Hello Charlie,

It's amazing it took only 11 days for the triggers to get to me here in Australia . On opening the envolope I was very impressed at the look and finish of your product.. I left them sitting there for an hour or so them I couldn't resist I had to install it at least on one of my air rifles.. I decided il install it on my gamo shadow fox as it is only one week old .. It took me only five minutes to install your fine piece of work.. once again couldn't help myself had to try it and I was amazed that taking the factory trigger out and droping your trigger in makes it a totaly diffrent gun.

I set up a target 15 meters away and all five shots were very accurate all of them touching each other. AMAZING!! I would recomend this trigger to anyone or should I say anyone with an air rifle should have this  trigger.... It's not worth shooting if you haven't got one of charlies triggers! It should be made a law to have this trigger... I can't wait to put the other one on my gamo hunter 440 in .22. Thank you Charlie..

Charlie,

I received the trigger two days ago, thank you! I installed it today and it is like you said, it took me less than 3 minutes to put the new trigger in but more like 20 minutes trying to figure out how to get the gun back together after dropping bushings and spacers out while disassembling the rifle, LOL . But now here is where I have to say......wholly crap Batman!

What a difference in the trigger pull! It's like 3/4th's less of a pull than the original. It's very light and crisp. And wow, what a difference it made in accuracy! I can now squeeze off a shot and not jerk the gun due to a hard trigger pull from the old trigger. I am shooting at 15 yards to start and actually getting the shots touching one another. I ran out of daylight while shooting so I have to wait until tomorrow to sight the rifle in for 25 yrds and am excited to see the results due to the new trigger. Thank you again for your recommendation!

Bob,

Here's my take on the trigger. Feel free to use it as you see fit.

I have shot every kind of gun imaginable. I have done tons of trigger jobs to my firearms. All I can say is "WOW". I have spent 200+ dollars on "match grade" trigger units in "real" guns and airguns too and for a little more than a 10th of the price this trigger is unbelievable! The tech support is second to none. Emails with links to directions and installation videos. Not to mention your phone conversations with me. I want to go buy another gun just to work on the trigger!!!!!

THANKS !

Hi Bob,

I received your GRT III trigger today and installed it, which was easier than I thought it would be. The original trigger pull was long, somewhat heavy, and gritty.  The GRT III trigger pull is short, light and very smooth. The GRT III fit in my Benjamin Trail very well, and allows me to place one pellet on top of the next at 10 yards. Thank you Bob for another fabulous trigger!  Sincerely,    John Schrader

P.S. The GRT III is an awesome looking trigger as well and adds a lot to the visual appeal of my air rifle.

Bob,

I have one of your new CBR triggers in my Crosman Nitro and love it.  I ordered the second for my Dad's Remington NPSS that's in the mail because I know he too will love it.

FYI, I also got the custom NCT trigger from Airguns of Arizona, with the intent to use it for Dad's rifle at a cost of $45 plus shipping (I ordered this one before your's was available).  It doesn't come with a spring and the quality isn't as nice as yours.  Also was not comfortable with cutting the existing spring.

Thank you for creating this really fine trigger!  I'm sure Dad will love it!

I just wanted to let you know that I am ridiculously happy with your trigger.  I got it very quickly after ordering and it is not only an amazing function upgrade, but beautiful to boot (not to mention the crazy amazing price for something so nice).  Installation was very quick and easy.  I installed the GRT-III along with a new Leapers 3-9x40 scope on my Remington Vantage 1200 and it feels like a whole new gun.  I look forward to a long future of fun and satisfaction with my rig now.  THANX MR. ASTOUNDING!!!!!!!  That's a word I've never used on any purchase that I've ever made, until now.

I am truely amazed. I knew that the GRT III would be a major improvment to my Gamo Viper, but the GRT III totally exceeds any expectations that I ever could of imagined.

Before the GRT III, it was impossible to shoot consistantly with the excess trigger travel and heavier pull weight of the stock trigger.

After an easy 10 minute installation, I shot several 1/4" groups at 30'.

Then I started shooting at thumb tacks, also at 30', these tacks were only 1/8th" across the head,  after hitting 3 in a row, I put the Viper up, totally satisfied that I have made one of the best purchases in my 54 years of life and that I can totally hang with anyone, anytime, anyplace on any firing line thanks to Charlie Da Tuna.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You,

Subject:  Your Trigger

 Hi Charlie,

I just received you trigger and installed it.  This is the first air rifle that I have had as an adult.  I am 58 now.  Years ago I did a lot of hunting and did a lot of work on my rifles.  I had several varmint rifles as well as deer rifles.  I would not keep one unless I could cover 100yd groups with a quarter.  Some good rifles had decent adjustable triggers but I would buy aftermarket triggers on some.  I had used several brands of triggers usually Timery (not sure about the spelling) but to my point. I NEVER SPENT $32 that made such a difference.  To me nothing is more important than a trigger on a fire arm or in this case an air rifle to improve performance.  The one that came with the Remington Vantage 1200 was junk.  I have just fired a few rounds since I changed it but what a difference.

Thank You So Much!

Jim

Good morning Sir. I received and installed your trigger yesterday.

First thing that comes to mind is amazing. The speed that it got here was impressive and it was very easy to install. I read the directions twice before receiving the trigger and read a link on Pyramid Air and was prepared for install when it got here. Took about 20 minutes only because I almost forgot the bushing that rolls on the inside of the stock so I had to take the stock off again. No adjustments needed once installed.

Took it out to the garage for trial. The new trigger is very light compared to stock so first round was a flier but still on the target. After about 10 shots to get the feel of the trigger I was shooting 3 shot groups that could be covered by 1 pellet! The picture is attached. I am amazed at the difference the trigger makes. Looks and feel are very nice. By far the best upgrade to the gun and the least expensive. Directions were very clear and easy to follow. Lubed the trigger and all points internal like suggested. This is an outstanding upgrade and highly recommended. I cannot wait till this weekend so I can really stretch my rifle out and see what it can do.

Your website, service and trigger's are top notch. Thank you.

Hi Charlie

i'm jim from italy , just wanted to say that the GRT TRIGGER has arrived . i have installed it and wow what a differnce it makes . I’m so pleased to have made the purchase now. i read the comments before i decided to purchase it and said now that i read the comments I’m sure that the first shot wont be a miss , but as i stood aiming at the target well as all the others has stated the first shot was unexpected. the trigger is so soft and smooth i didn't even realize that i just have taken the shot. and as to say it wasn't as planed . The trigger was so smooth that i shot before i was ready . there are no words to explain the new trigger. the gold finish makes the rifle look even more serious that before and well as for the rest (as I stated before I’m wordless ) for all those that have the old Gamo CFX believe me that it's a whole new ball game with the GRT TRIGGER.
THANKS CharlieDaTuna . YOURE UPGRADE IS A PIECE OF ART AND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE ILL PASS BY THE GUNSMITH THAT SOLD ME THE CFX TO LET HIM SEE AND FEEL WHAT IS REAL WORKMANSHIP.
THANKS JIMMO68

Subject:  Totally pleased

I received your trigger in the mail today...fast processing and quick mail.

I am totally pleased with the change it makes in my Gamo CFX.  I expected the stock trigger to be mushy and not too good, but I was surprised at how mushy it is.  I shot about 200 rounds with the stock trigger so I would have a chance to get used to it and have a good bench mark starting point.

Where the stock CFX trigger started makes the transformation as a result of the 10 minute (I timed it) installation of the GRT III all the more remarkable.  I am totally pleased with the new trigger feel and consistency,  I know exactly when it is going to let off and I don't have to pull it halfway to the butt plate. It makes the gun an absolute pleasure to shoot.  This consistency seems to have enabled me to shrink my 20 yard groups from quarter size to dime size with occasional cloverleafs and I think we can do better, I just ran out of the gun's favorite pellets.

As all the reviewers have said your trigger design makes a pretty good airgun into a great airgun.  You can be sure I'll be buying a GRT III on every compatible airgun I buy.

Subject:  Unbelievable difference

Charlie, I received the GRTIII trigger today and it was as easy to install as all of your website info said it would be. I have a brand new Gamo Whisper .22 cal with a Gas Ram powerplant and synthetic camo stock and I shot about 50 pellets thru it before your trigger arrived. It is a very accurate and powerful rifle (840 fps with 15.88 gram pellets) but after installing your trigger...all I can say is WOW!!! The GRTIII is everything and more that I have read about on the many forums and blogs. The pull weight, smoothness and true 1st/2nd stage feedback are exactly what I expected. I saved the stock trigger and spring etc, but I'm fairly sure that the stamped, sheet metal trigger and parts will not be re-intalled in this gun during my lifetime!

Let me also thank you for the quick delivery, 3 days from your place to mine here in Idaho. And...even more importantly, the install was as simple and straightforward as your instructions. One note for late model Gamo Whisper CSI owners... the "E" clip is on the reverse side of the trigger assembly, and there is only one clip due to the trigger hinge pin having a shoulder on the near side that retains it ("E" clip is on the opposite side that Charlie shows in his picture/instructions looking right to left with the trigger on the right, muzzle on left and barrel on top).

I just finished putting 50 more pellets downrange and what a REMARKABLE DIFFERENCE your trigger makes. I can only compare it to my HW97K with a Rekord 2 stage trigger and for this Gamo rifle it is as close to the Rekord trigger as I could possibly hope for.

For anyone looking to get $500 performance from their $200 gun, get Charlies GRTIII trigger for $32 and save $268!

Thanks again Charlie for the service and support you provide to air-gunners.

Charlie,

I ordered your GRT-III trigger for my Gamo Whisper VH because it was recommended by the Gamo customer service agent when I called to complain about the Whisper’s excessive trigger pull.

I must say that I was skeptical to say the least about the reported ease of installation.  Having owned my Whisper for only a week and not being completely familiar with its construction I was anticipating a challenging installation.  I was wrong.  I used your GRT III Trigger Installation pictorial instruction guide and was shocked at how straight forward and simple the entire process was from start to finish.  In fact it took no more than ten minutes.

I also couldn’t believe the difference in trigger pull.  The GRT III trigger made a remarkable and significant difference in trigger pull.  The lighter trigger pull was exactly what I was looking for and has transformed my Whisper into my air rifle of choice.

Bob,

I've read all the testimonials.....and I'm sure you get tired of reading them. I don't know what else to add, you are a genius! My wife bought me a Gamo Silent Cat for Christmas, after listening to me complain about range fees and ammo costs. She knew nothing about air guns, and bought it at the suggestion of a Bass Pro Shop clerk. I was nearly ready to resign it closet duty, not wanting to hurt her feelings, until I ran across your site when researching these "springers".

I've tinkered with guns since I was a kid (just another good ol' boy from South Mississippi) and have NEVER seen anything make this much difference in a gun of any kind. And this wasn't the first trigger I've swapped either!  Your trigger is what these guns need to turn them from junk into gold.

Thanks again for offering a quality part at a reasonable price, and getting it here so quickly.  I only wish you were still tuning!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful New Year.

Your GRT III trigger was shipped to me promptly.  Taking it out of the package, I immediately noticed that the workmanship was outstanding. Installation took me only about 10 minutes, but while the gun (Gamo Silent Cat) was out of the stock, I took some extra time to look at everything and admire the workmanship.  The install was a snap and I feel like I could have done it without instructions, it's that easy.  After putting the gun back together, the first shot came as a surprise since the yard long creep was gone.  I was convinced that the standard Charliedatuna adjustments could be improve upon so I took my allen wrench and screw driver and got busy.  Long story short, I returned the adjustments to just about where you had them set up, so I guess you really DO know what you're doing.  Great trigger makes a great improvement to my Gamo.  Thanks.

 Hi Bob,

Derek MacLean here, you may remember that I wrote to you via your CharlieDaTuna web site some time ago commenting on various aspects of the articles therein.

Following requests made to me here in this part of the World to sort out the triggers on some Gamo CFX models I got my son Clive MacLean, who lives in Wayne, Illinois to order three units from you.  As my younger son was visiting with his brother he was able to bring them back to South Africa on his return home.  This certainly saved a bit on the postage etc. and ensured their safe passage avoiding the highly possible theft enroute through our postal system.  I understand that you are aware of this problem having experienced it with other orders from Africa.

I think that I previously explained that, apart from smithing air guns here I also coach air rifle shooting at a local college.  This morning before attending a coaching session in the afternoon I took the opportunity to fit one of your triggers to a CFX used by one of my top Springer shooters.  This young man shoots very well with his CFX but has never been happy with that dreadful Gamo trigger let-off.  I have to tell you that both the young shooter and myself were absolutely amazed at the result.  Our complements to you Sir - a first class design and great engineering quality.

There is no doubt that when word gets around to the many shooters here who use Gamo rifles I will have to get my son to order me further supplies.

I have recently written and published through the college a 'how to' booklet on the techniques of target shooting both the Springer and Sporter (PCP) rifles in the three positions. This has been quite well received by the school shooters here.  As I note your postal address in the GRT-111 installation instructions I am taking the liberty of sending you a copy that I hope may be of interest to you.  Your comments would be appreciated.

 Regards,

 Derek MacLean

Hello Bob

Here's some feedback on my recently purchased trigger. I received the trigger in just 5 days from ordering. It took me about 10 minutes to fit to my Gamo shadow. I didn't need to adjust the trigger, it feels perfect. It has transformed the gun completely, the old trigger had a really long first stage and was very heavy when firing. Now it is a lot lighter and very precise. Anyone in doubt about buying and fitting one of your triggers should just go and do it. It is worth every cent. Thanks for brilliant product.

I must admit, when I bought my Gamo Whisper Deluxe about a year ago, and started hanging around here, I was skeptical about all the rave comments concerning the GRT III. Well, last week I finally ordered one. It got here yesterday and I installed it this morning, before my coffee. And even considering the klutz factor, it took me maybe 10 minutes, start to finish. Sound familiar? For a 68 year old with ten thumbs, that's not bad.

My first shot out of it hardly got on paper, because I started to press the trigger the way I pressed the old one, and it when bang before I was ready. The second shot was a bulls-eye. This is one helluva trigger.

Dear Sir; I thought I would comment on Your GRT III trigger I ordered for My Gamo CFX air rifle. First let Me say Your instructions for installation are great. I put it in without any problems, And If I can do it almost anyone can. Do Your homework and It’s a snap 15 minute start to finish job. It made My Gamo air rifle a different gun. The trigger travel distance was cut in way less than 1/2. And the trigger pull weight was cut by 75% at least.

The GRT III trigger is all you said it would be right out of the Package.

Hi,

Just thought I would let you know how pleased I am with my new GRT-III trigger in my Gamo Whisper (.22cal.). I preformed the installation in about 5-10 minutes and had no problems at all - just followed the instructions. No adjustment were required!

The GRT-III has brought this rifle from the "sorry I ever bought this gun" to the "I really love it" status. The performance of this trigger is very close to the double set triggers I have on my muzzle loaders and much better than a lot of my standard trigger production firearms.

I wish everything I bought worked as well as the GRT-III.

Subject:  Hey Bob,

When I got my Gamo Viper, I didn't even shoot it before I installed the trigger. The trigger was a breeze to install, being mechanically inclined; it took less than 5 minutes.  (2 minutes for installation, 3 for admiration of this masterpiece)  Overall it is beautiful trigger on a beautiful gun, what more could you ask for. How about an amazing SHOOTING gun?

I am so used to shooting around 3-6 lbs of trigger pull that when this thing fired I just laughed. My trigger was the smoothest action, and right when you hit that spot, it fires, precisely the same spot every-time. The pull is so light it’s almost effortless. In 2 hours I had already put 500 shots through the rifle.  I loved it so much but unfortunately I ran out of ammo.

Not only does the trigger add a special high class look to the rifle, it adds superior shooting economics, unmatched to any rifle I have ever shot.

I swapped out my target every 10 shots (50 Targets) the first few I used for sighting my rifle, I did this at 20 yards. By the 32nd target, the gun seemed to be broken in pretty well, and I was shooting shot clusters of 10 in the size of a DIME! (Obviously its 70% operator, 30% gear) But yes, it is the most accurate combination with the 3-9 X 40 Glass Etched BSA Riflescope, and your trigger. I mean dead bulls eyes.

 I love your trigger

P.S., I was at Kittery Trading Post in Kittery Maine the day before my stuff came and some guy was telling me that the best thing you can do with any Gamo rifle is buy the GRT-III trigger, I smiled laughed and told him that he had made my day since I had already purchased one for my new Gamo Viper.

Bob, the GRT lll trigger in my Gamo whisper is a great upgrade. Your shipping was very quick {3 days}. Installing per your directions was very simple. best part this has turned my rifle into a much better rifle. the trigger that came in the rifle was very lacking. The pull must have been three inches and at about nine pounds. new trigger is just right. Believe it is even smoother than the Volquartsen in my Ruger 10/22. it has made my Gamo much more accurate and fun to shoot. have noticed that the rifle is much more selective on pellets than I expected. have shot several different ones and it likes Beeman all purpose ones best. anyway you have a great product, great shipping, and made my rifle much better than new. Will likely have a tune up by Gene sometime in the future.

 Hi Charlie (Bob)

I just had to send a quick note to let you know that I received my GRT III today, and just finished installing and testing it.

I've read the testimonials on your website, but I guess I thought that some were a bit exaggerated, slinging so much praise. I was wrong.  I installed the trigger in my Gamo Whisper VH in about five minutes, no problems, and no hitches.  It's been raining all day here, but I wanted to try a few shots from my porch just for the hell of it.  I can't believe that this is the same gun. The trigger pull with the factory trigger was slow, heavy, and creepy and pretty much a crap shoot as to when it might release.

My first shot with the GRT III was a clean, crisp release, maybe 3lbs at most.

All I can say is UNBELIEVABLE! This is like the difference between a cheap double action revolver and a match grade rifle.  I can't even feel the smallest creep, it's absolutely amazing.  Thank you for making such a fantastic product.

I just finished installing my trigger and here are my thoughts andcomments:

"I want start off by saying I have NO prior gunsmithing experience.  With that said, installing the GRT-III was extremely easy and fast. I cannot emphasize how easy it was. I was very nervous about installing a trigger because I have never even taken apart an air rifle, much less install after market parts. It took me under 5 minutes to take apart my rifle and install it.  As for the trigger, $32 is a steal for what you are getting. It has made my Benjamin Super Streak a pleasure to shoot. Hats off to you Charlie for making a quality, high class trigger that really compliments my air rifle."

Thanks again Charlie for the great trigger. I only wish I could install this trigger on any air rifle. :)

Bob/Charlie, I bought two of your GRT-III triggers about two years ago for my matching pair of Gamo CFX .177 and .22 air rifles, and I wanted to say those triggers are STILL fantastic. I have poured thousands of pellets down those rifles, and I can't help but smile each time I gently squeeze that beautiful gold trigger. These two rifles easily produce sub .25" five shot groups @ 25 yards, and the triggers make it considerably easier than the stock Gamo triggers. The durability is all anyone could hope for, and I am about to get my .22 CFX back with the Air Venturi gas ram installed, since the mainspring snapped. This should get very interesting. My sincerest thanks to you, Bob!

This is like a new found love with your GRT-III trigger blade in my Gamo CF-20.

I think that all usable superlatives of your triggers have already been used by other customers before me, so I will not repeat them again and bore the hell out of you. I just want to THANK YOU, sir, for selling such an awesome product with fast and great customer service for an affordable price. Every Gamo owner should get one! Period.

I used to think that the trigger pull on my Ruger 10/22 was the absolute worst trigger from the factory imaginable, until I bought my Gamo Big Cat air rifle and found out what a truly horrible trigger was.  Likewise, I thought that the aftermarket trigger that I put in my 10/22 was the best upgrade that I had ever made on a gun until I installed the GRT-III trigger in my Gamo.  Without exaggeration, THE GRT-III TRIGGER IS THE MOST DRAMATIC UPGRADE THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN.  That one single upgrade changed my air gun from a item that was going to end up in next year’s yard sale into a one hole shooter at 50’.  I was skeptical when I read the testimonials, but now I am a believer and am telling everyone I know that owns a Gamo to buy one of your triggers.  I can’t wait for the guys at the range to see the difference.  Thanks from your biggest fan!

Just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that I received the GRT III I purchased from (and quick too, only 2 or 3 days) and I just got thru installing the trigger (finally had time) and the first shot was AMAZING.  The first words out of my mouth were "HOLY MOLY!"  It has only taken one shot to realize that this is a totally different gun than I bought.  I was shocked and thrilled.  Very, very smooth!  I am not a very good shot with any type of gun (bowhunter only), but with this trigger and my Gamo CFX Combo. the squirrels and varmits around my house better watch out.   No more digging in my yard or my wife's flower pots. All I can say is "Thank you" for making such a fine product for a very reasonable price.

Subject: RAPID INSTALLATION

Not being a clock watcher I forgot to record the time it took me to install my new trigger in my CFX, but it didn't take me as long as it took to make a cup of coffee in the microwave . I will be ordering one for my wife as a jewel for her charm bracelet. The trigger pull went from 64 oz. to 24 oz. in one move, the take up is just how I would set it, the offhand groups went down by a huge margin. If any one has any doubts, put them aside and get one of these triggers ASAP, and start realizing your potential and that of your equipment when you have installed one. Here on the East coast we do not put up with any BS and this trigger marches to that drummer. an OUTSTANDING PIECE , thanks for your development efforts and cost containment and perfect example of Yankee (HE HE ) ingenuity.,Sincerely, Maurice

Hi Bob

Thanks for your prompt shipment, the trigger was almost too easy of an install, just took a couple of minutes and it was in. Couldn't wait to try it, even with out my new scope installed I just had to go outside and try it out, I have one word to describe it SMOOOOOTH, lol. I felt the difference right away, It really changed the way the rifle shot completely, No more waiting, what seems like an eternity for the gun to fire, and the trigger pull was perfect, I didn't change a thing. Can honestly say it was a valuable upgrade to my gamo big cat 1200. Gamo factory triggers do not do an air rifle justice at all. not very adjustable to me. But the GRT-III is really sweet. Not downgrading it at all, but I have one comment to add, I wish the one you make for the gamo was a bit longer, but thats just me I have rather large fingers, anyway thanks so much, GW.

Charlie,

In one word UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I don't know why anyone would settle for junky trinket of a factory trigger, this is truly a night and day difference. The best part was installation, I was just scrolling thru instructions online one at a time and then....That's it???.... I was confused, I thought for sure I missed something. But no it was true I was done. Then I shot it, WOW what a nice crisp brake, UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Thank you again what a nice well crafted upgrade. I will recommend this product to everybody great job!!!

Subject:  Got the triggers last Friday

Bob,

I got the triggers last Friday.  They were easy to install and it only took about 40 minutes for both rifles (CFX and Super Streak).  The triggers did wonders for the two rifles. Before installing the triggers it was very tough to get respectable groups with the Super Streak and boy did I keep a sore trigger finger.  The CFX was just ok. But I knew I could squeeze more accuracy out of it with a few mods.  So after doing some research and reading the great reviews and results that others had gotten with their GRT Triggers, I had to give it a try.  Now, my rifles seems like they had major work, but just adding the trigger makes them feel and perform like different guns.  They are more enjoyable to shoot and I have the confidence that I will hit my target.

Wow! What an idea and product, finally I got a real difference maker that is well worth the money. I would highly recommend. Big Thanks,

Derrick

Thank you for your prompt response to my order. I am extremely pleased with the triggers. I installed one of them on a Crosman Storm. The results are amazing. The comparison of the stock trigger to the GRTIII trigger is, well, there is no comparison! The reduction in pull weight, feel, function, ease of installation, and installation support is incredible. I will definitely be a repeat customer. The quality of manufacture reminds me of a time when people actually took great pride in their work. Kudos on a great product and website.

Dear Mother of God...   what a difference!  I cannot thank you enough.  I know that I tend to be a little higher maintenance than the average e-mailer and I want to thank you again for your responses.

Got an answer on that "sitting in Charlette" thing with the packages.  FedEx Express and FedEx Ground merged a couple years back.  In your locale if things are being shipped to certain parts of the country they get 'flown' out of Charlette to their destination hub airports where 'Ground" picks them up and disperses them.  Tadah!  Asked my shipping guy about it today at work.

Alright- so where do I submit a testimonial?

Subject: GRT trigger

Bob, I received your GRT-III trigger this afternoon and installed it in a Remington Summit .177 cal air rifle.

Just like everyone else I feel that there is only one word to describe the transformation, that word is WOW!  I bought this air rifle and was very disappointed, not in the rifle overall but specifically in the trigger feel and action. As a matter of fact I was about to offer this rifle to my friends, give it away to anyone who wanted it. I was that disgusted.  Now I think I'll keep it.

I shot forty five pellets this afternoon fine tuning the zero on the scope at 30 yards and was able to put three almost on top of one another, my worst group was a little larger than the size of a half dollar and this was when the wind picked up.

The trigger installed easily and as per the instructions on your website. There were no surprises. You've done a great thing for people that are going to shoot these rifles.

Thank you,

E Moss

Subject:   The Trigger

Hi Bob,

Just recieved the trigger this afternoon and had already read through the pfd files I downloaded from your site.  I have done trigger jobs on Ruger 10/22's, Remington shot guns and a Colt AR15, all of which were not too bad.  Now when it comes to putting in your trigger in my Whisper, I've never seen such an easy job.  It was the quickest and simple, straight forward installation.  The only thing I had to do was take the rifle down again because of a small plastic roller that goes into a guide in the stock, it fell off the peg and I missed that putting it all together.  Now to the meat of the issue is the trigger worth it.

I couldn't believe the feel and let go of this trigger.  Surprised me on the first pull.  What a great job you did on this trigger.  It is worth every penny and if anyone buys an air rifle they should do your trigger job before they sight in the rifle.  I have owned this rifle only one month and didn't like the creepy trigger in it right from the start.  I talked to a gun smith a Ace Hardware in Lacrosse Wis and he turned me on to your web site.  He said the trigger is well worth it he did your trigger job for a customer.  When he fired it is was really impressed with it.  I took his advise and glad I did.  I will be showing this rifle to other air gunners in the area.  I wish I had 2 Whispers to show the before and after but this rifle will now speak for itself.  Now the brag sheet.  I have been shooting all my life and was a high firer of the battalion 98 out of 100 for score with the M16 A1.  Now with this trigger job I will be able to improve on that one.

Thanks Bob for the job you did in the design of this trigger.  It is well worth it and now I enjoy this rifle.  Keep up the good work.

Subject:   Byproduct of your GRT-III trigger

Dear Charlie:

While I have previously written to you to express my gratitude for your having created such a fine product in the GRT-III, I’d also like to pass on to you a little byproduct of what it is your trigger has done for my oldest son.

As a little bit of a background, my son suffers from a mild learning disorder.  He is in a classroom setting where he receives extra attention in the subjects which most frequently cause him trouble, ie., math and reading.  Partially, as a result of this extra attention, he exhibits signs of low self-esteem.  While I go out of my way to tell him how great a job he is doing in school, it’s obvious to me this extra attention causes him some anxiety.

My reason for getting into air guns was a result of my trying to find something both boys and I could do as a family.  Both of them love to shoot rimfire and centerfire and the oldest is actually a pretty fair shot with a revolver/semi-auto and a rifle.  Unfortunately, not knowing anything about air guns prior to buying a Gamo Viper and 220, I just happened to pick the brand of rifle with the worst triggers available.

Prior to purchasing your trigger, I told the boys they simply needed to practice with their rifles in order to keep getting better.  While some of the groups the boys would shoot were actually quite good, the occasional flyer would often spoil the results.  It was obvious to me their trigger fingers were getting sore from pulling so hard on the stock Gamo trigger; hence, this led to the occasional flyer.

My oldest was actually becoming quite discouraged, and I found him sinking back into the mood of “I’m just not good enough.”  Then…I purchased your trigger.

On our first outing together, my oldest son’s eyes actually “lit up” when he saw the group he produced with the GRT-III trigger.  He simply couldn’t believe how well he was shooting and how tight he could hold his groups.  He was happier then I’d seen him in quite some time and all traces of the “I’m not good enough,” feeling was gone.   I swear he must have come up and shown me one target at least 5 times, he was so proud of it.  Of course, so was I.

He just recently graduated from the 15 yard course I’d set up in the woods behind my home, to the 30 yard course.  At 15 yards, after installing your trigger, he could keep 6 shots within a span I could cover with the fingernail on my little finger.  At 30 yards, he can already keep 6 shots within a one inch circle I draw on a piece of paper as an aiming point.  My next step is to put him on the 50 yard course and see how well he does.

Charlie, the transformation in him is just astounding.  His whole attitude about joining his little brother and I as we head out to shoot has totally changed.  He’s now eager to finish his homework when he gets home from school so we can go back to “our” range.

I realize that as a tuner and businessman, you’re interested in making money and building a happy clientele.  Sometimes though, you actually DO touch people in ways you might not fully expect.  You certainly did in this case, and I couldn’t be happier about it.

Sincerely,

Bob Petty

Received the trigger and have installed it in our Gamo CFX. A great improvement and at what I consider low cost. Eight days delivery to Australia and easy to install by following your instructions. I am delighted with the change, it has made a big change to the one area I was never happy with the CFX. Why can't they do this from the factory!!

 Charlie,

I just got the GRT II installed in my Gamo Whisper (10 minutes). In fact I was surprised how fast you got it here. The riffle is now a tack driver. I still need to fine tune it a bit but the difference between the GRT II trigger and the factory trigger is like the difference between rotgut and single malt. The rifle went from rough and unpredictable to smooth and crisp.

Thank you.  I have built and repaired things from The original gas powered Hoffco trimmers in the late 60's to 200 ton cranes in the 80's and 90's and now computers.

This was the easiest and most straight forward replacemnt I have ever done.  Everything on your end worked as shown and from my end I didn't even lose the "jesus clip."

I bought the CFX last fall.  It was supposed to be accurate anmd was relatively inexpensive and Pyramid air had a garage sale so I picked up and open box even cheaper than the retsil price by 50 bucks.  I figured if I didn't enjoy it I could get a goodportion of my investment back.

I had believed the stories about the Gamo trigger breaking in.  It didn't.   After approximately 3000 shots it still stuck on occasion and never quite released the same for more than 3 or 4 shots in a row.

I ordered your trigger last Thursday and it arrived today.  I spent more time opening the envelope and rereading the instructions than I did diassembling and reassembling the gun.

20 shots in a hole smaller than a quarter.  It is only 45 feet but it was a huge improvement for me  No stringing side to side

Thanks again

Hi Bob, thanks for the quick response. I haven't received the trigger yet, I just jumped the gun ! Ha Ha. (I ordered this at the same time I ordered my new Crosman Phantom springer. From experience it's the same trigger as Gamo) Anyway, I know already that it will be here quickly as the two before. I just wanted everyone who reads, that this is a worthwhile and cheap investment to make your airgun a whole lot better in terms of accuracy and looks. What a fine yet ordinary example of American Ingenuity. The two previous triggers (GRT-III of course) I installed have worked marvelously and I am nothing short of being impressed. Installation and function is very simple (almost too simple). This is a First Class item for what it is and greatly enhances even the so called lower caste of air guns. I will be back.
Thank you Bob,

I have a Gamo Whisper, which I was planning on replacing due to its inaccuracy.  A new quality air rifle was going to run ~$200-300 and then I came upon the GRT-III recommendation and thought I'd give it a try. I received the trigger and installed it within 15 minutes.  I am not mechanically inclined and was sure I'd screw up the installation but it was very straight forward with the downloaded instructions.  I couldn't believe the change it made...1/2-1 inch groupings @ 30 yds ( I was lucky to get 6 inch groupings with the factory trigger). This morning I tried it out on the gophers in our field...two out of the first three shots found their mark (the third was a 60 yd shot).  To anyone with a Gamo, you MUST buy the GRT-III trigger, it will transform your piece of crap into a very accurate air rifle.

Hi Bob

I wanted to drop a few lines about your GRT-lll Trigger. This trigger is Absolutely Fantastic. You are a Genius and a God Send too all of us. With your Trigger youhave transformed my Crosman Sierra Pro from an air rifle I would occasionally shoot, too one I find hard to stop shooting. It is now on my list of favorites. Your trigger is so easy to install with your instructions, it’s incredible.

Since installing the GRT-lll trigger these are some of the changes in the performance of the Sierra Pro:

 1. The trigger pull went from 88oz.(5.5lbs.) too 24oz.(1.5lbs.)

 2. The trigger has gone from a rough travel with a heavy break too a smooth travel with a very crisp light but manageable break.

3. It has shrunk my groups @ 33 feet from 1 inch too 3/16 of an inch

4. Not to mention it also adds to the aesthetic looks of the gun. And all for a very fair price.

I Can't Thank You Enough. I am finally getting what I expected from theSierra Pro.

RE:
Incredible

Bob,

Got the trigger in today's mail.  I recently purchased a Crosman Quest 1000 and the reason that I purchased the trigger was because the factory trigger required a tremendous amount of trigger pull to shoot.  Adjustment of the supposedly 2 stage trigger did nothing other than shorten the second stage while increasing the free play of the first stage.  I am used to shooting big bore and varmint rifles that have a 1 to 2 lb trigger pull and was looking to improve the feel of the Quest 1000 to that of what I was used to.

So I was a little apprehensive that your product would perform as advertised.

The installation went smoothly and as the instructions indicated it took about 15 minutes to do the install.

I did not do any modifications to the first or second stages and the trigger housing was real clean without any sharp edges so there was not any modifications that was required in that respect.  The safety engaged without any problem and the trigger pull was noticeably lighter which is what I was hoping to achieve.

After assembly I test fired a few shots at my target in the back yard and the difference was incredible. The trigger pull was smooth and consistent from shot to shot.  It has made this air rifle a real pleasure to shoot.

I am duly impressed with this trigger and am glad that I made the decision to buy it and I will definitely recommend it to my friends that have air rifles that can accommodate this trigger.

Thank you for a very superior product.

Hi Bob

A word of thanks for the prompt service I received.
From activation of my PayPal account to notification of payment received and order confirmation, took only 2½ hours.

I received the GRT-III in my post box a bit more than a week ago. It took 10 days from placement of order to my post box. Not bad for standard mail from the US to South Africa.

Installation in my son's GAMO Shadow 1000 was straight forward with the help of the supplied instructions, and the whole process including lubrication took no more than 20 minutes.

I tested the rifle at 10 meters (33 ft) and WHAT A DIFFERENCE. The first shot went off before I realized that I had pulled through the second stage. When using the standard trigger, I would sometimes run out of breath before the shot went off, due to the heavy pull and long creep. A few test shots later I got the feel of the trigger and proceeded to shoot some groupings.

A five shot grouping of 7mm (0.27 inch) using H&N Barracuda Extra Heavy .177 was easily attained. I would struggle to get anything close to this with the standard trigger and unpredictable pull.

The GRT-III trigger has transformed the rifle from a "Why the hell did I buy this", to a "Hey this ain't half bad at all".

I highly recommend this Trigger to anyone who has ever had the misfortune of having to use a standard GAMO Trigger.

Thank you for a GREAT product and an excellent WEB Site.

Hi Bob,

I just returned a short while ago from giving the new GRT-III a test drive. ... I installed it on a Crosman Phantom, - what a difference!!!

Absolutely great, - no comparison with the factory trigger. This trigger is very easily installed, is "quick" and has an "easy touch" to it. I also have a Gamo Whisper, which I'll be ordering a GRT-III for this coming week. Also can't say enough about the quick turn-around and service after the order. I would highly recommend anyone who's "thinking about it" - to go ahead and buy one.

I recently had my new Whisper Deluxe tuned by Bob (Charlie Da Tuna). I can't begin to tell you how happy I am with the whole experience, just great service all the way around.
I've had it back for a few weeks, the first thing that I did was mount a new Leapers 3-9X44 scope on it with a 1 piece Accushot mount. I had issues with the scope creeping with the factory set up, so far the new gear is working perfectly. I already installed the GRT-III trigger, that went in after the very first time that I shot the gun. I also stuffed some foam down in the stock, I think that's helping dampen things down a bit.

So far I've only managed to squeeze about 100 rounds through it due to the cold weather here and I know that it's going to take quite a few more before it's really broke in but man I just can't believe how nice it's shooting already. Now keep in mind that this is my first springer or air rifle aside from my little Daisy when I was a kid, so I don't have anything to really gauge it by. I do know the recoil seems to be about 1/3 of what it used to be and it's much quieter and just all around smoother. There was a little hitch in the cocking mechanism before the tune and now that's like butter. As for the noise, it's makes less noise than the little Crossman C11 CO2 pistol I have.

I can't thank you enough Bob, you were a pleasure to deal with.

Trigger unit arrived

 Bob,

The GRT-III arrived today, thank you for a quality product!

I tend to tell things like I see them, no BS here ever, if it's a spade I say so, if it smells like a Rose I say so. With that said I must admit I am nearly overwhelmed in this small dealing with you. The GRT-III is indeed the unit I saw installed in a Gamo David Slade had last year (I wasn't sure before receiving ours) but even after seeing I had ordered the correct unit my skill certainly do not match "The Trigger Man's" however after looking at the most comprehensive detailed documented instructions I have ever seen for anything I felt I would attempt installation myself (David had offered to help if needed) and a most satisfying few minutes of work it was.

After just a few test shots I went ahead and adjusted both the first and second stage (it did arrive set well for most peoples use, just good to go, but this is going to be a back-up/loaner FT rifle and I wanted to see what it would do and I feel it will be most adequate for my intended purpose.

You sell a fine product and set a standard for instructions so high no one I have dealt with even comes close. Also your prompt communications and shipping are A+. I will be posting a small review on airgun advice and will highly recommend doing business with you to anyone.

Thank you,

John Blount

Trigger

Hi  Bob
Just wanted to tell you to add me to your long list of satisfied customers. I recently bought a Gamo Varmint hunter and although I loved the gun I hated the trigger from the start. I started doing some internet research and soon came up with the GRT-III trigger ,after reading all the testimonials I decided to try it and im glad I did. It was very easy to install with the great instructions you provide , and it makes all the difference in the world in your shooting. I went from three inch groups at 25 yards to same hole groups. I have no use for a gun that I can't shoot  accurately and your trigger transformed my gun.  If you own a Gamo rifle you owe it to yourself to spend another $32 and get this trigger you wont be disappointed , isn't that why you bought your gun  to start with , to be able to shoot well ?

 Thanks

Here it comes my testimonial for your website, in Spanish and English, and a video:

 English:

It's a pity that the factory trigger is not popular in Spain, that's why I write my impressions in Spanish, so more people can enjoy this improvement for gamo airguns. After all, it's made in my country and our American friend Charlie is who has been responsible of its improve.

I'm not an expert in airguns and I won't use technical words, pressure of the trigger or steps, but what I can say is that it really improves the precision when you shoot. My wife's words summaries everything the first time she used it: done already? It's so smooth than you almost don't have to press. The quality feeling is clear. For its price, it's a must.

What can make you hesitate is its installation, piece of cake. It took me less than 3 minutes to install and it's really hard to do it wrong if you follow the instructions of the website. But is better to watch than to tell it, so here you have a video:

GRT Trigger

Hi Bob,

I received the trigger and fitted it that evening to my Gamo Whisper, it was a breeze! Your installation instructions are well detailed and very easy to follow. The overall finish of the trigger is excellent, no burrs or other imperfections and the tooling is all perfectly finished. Small details that so many manufacturers seem to overlook these days.

I have now had some time to test the trigger and boy am I glad I bought it. There is no comparison between your product and the stock item. At first I was taken by surprise at the weight of the action, first shot I had pulled the trigger before I realized it. After a few shots something was happening that I had not experienced with that gun before using the stock trigger. I found myself in the in the happy knowledge of knowing when the gun was actually going to fire! Fairly useful that. I am able to consistently hit a 3/8" target at 30 yds without having to take 2 breaths per shot. The gun is a real pleasure to use now thanks to your fine product.

Cheers,

Frank Doherty

Jeeze man... what a transformation!
This Chinese turd (SMK-19) of a rifle has just become a precision instrument. I was already making 6 out of 10 shots in a row (surprising for this quality of gun) but now I've fitted your GRT-III I've just hit 9 out of 10! I only shoot in the backyard but I can feel a hunting trip coming on.

Great product, Bob and thanks for the fast turnaround. I still can't believe the action.

My wife ordered the GRT III for me for my Whisper .22 and not only was Charlie's turnaround quick and painless but the product is great too.  I installed it today in about 15 minutes.  I don't know much about gun internals but the excellent directions and pictorial helped quite nicely.

So what is the difference for me?  I would loose my breath trying to pull the stock trigger consistently and have to re hold all the time.  I think that Gamo must err on the side of stupidity.  What I mean by that is that the trigger is so hard to pull through the "2nd stage" that they must have made it that way on purpose so that those "special" people that don't practice proper safe shooting techniques and walk around with their finger on the trigger of a loaded gun don't shoot by accident.  Now the trigger is very light but you can feel the 2nd stage.  2nd stage is quite short and quick and I think that this is perfect as the it requires almost no effort to pull though but you do feel it.  I can't wait to see how my groups will improve now as I know the heavy 2nd stage was so heavy that I had difficulty not shifting the sight picture when I finally pulled hard enough to get through the factory 2nd stage.

Thanks for a great product and service.  The only improvement I can think of is to offer it in other finishes (nickle, pewter, black anodized, etc) in addition to the standard gold.

GRT-III Trigger - WOW!!!

I'm so impressed with Bob's aka Charlie's GRT-III Trigger, I thought I'd share my letter to him:

Dear Bob,

I ordered your GRT-III trigger on Sunday and received it today, Wednesday. Thanks for the fast shipping. I had it installed in my old .177 caliber Gamo Hunter 220 (made in Spain) in less than 15 minutes using your excellent written and picture instructions. First thing I noticed was your incredible workmanship. Your pin tolerances were absolutely perfect in my rifle. Next, I quickly got out in the back yard and set up my old Marksman pellet trap and "homemade" targets.

You were exactly right - WOW! What a difference your GRT-III trigger makes. It took me a few shots to get used to the new lighter, crisper feel. But, soon I was shooting better groups than ever before. I had always had trouble shooting good groups with the stock trigger. Now even my "plinking" pellets are grouping better. As you mentioned, the GRT-III trigger doesn't necessarily improve the accuracy of the rifle, but it sure does improve the accuracy of the shooter!!!

Thanks again, Bob. WOW!

Sincerely,
George Garrett

GRT-III trigger in my Gamo Whisper with gas ram

This is an email sent to Bob, "Charlie" earlier today.

I ordered the trigger online Monday, 29 Dec 2008. It arrived today, Wednesday, 31 Dec 2008

WOW. That had to be the easiest and most worthwhile investment of 2008. I have a GAMO Whisper, with modified gas ram, and I think from opening the packing envelope to having it installed was about 30 minutes, including the time spent looking for my torx set, and firing a “Before” 3 shot test string. I used the pdf instructions direct off my laptop. Attached is the scanned target from my test. The top is three shots, offhand, with the original factory trigger. The lower is after installation of your GRT-III. Again three shots offhand, both fired with Beeman Crow Magnum pellets. The “flyer” on the lower target was the first shot and I was expecting a jerk, or difficult pull, like with the original trigger. That’s what you get, squeeze hard with a silky trigger and you get down and right. All I can say is smooth. With a little more practice and I’m sure it will be shooting one hole groups. Not bad for a plinking fun gun. Thanks for making it easy.

It has made a HUGE improvement. Thanks

Amazing Trigger

Thank you, I received the triggers in amazing time. I'm just impressed by that fact alone. I installed both on my 800 & 1000 Quest Crosmans. Yes, not a Diana,Beeman, Gamo or otherwise, just the poor man's airgun, and what a difference it made. This single, simple, addition made it possible to bust walnuts at 30 yards plus with the addition of good mounts and sights. I like to hunt, so this added an exceptional addition that was the ULTIMATE REWARD in upgrading any of my several air guns. I would challenge anyone out there to a civil shooting match no matter what gun you may have. No kidding, this item just enhanced my ability ten fold. So Much for that and have a decent Christmas and New Year (09 remember). Thank you, Bob, for such great old fashioned service.

Trigger

 Hello Charlie,

Holy smoke, I don’t know what kind of alchemy you used to make the trigger, but man it has transformed my gamo 220, from 1.75 inch grouper at 30 yards, to a ½ incher at the same distance. I did not have the money for the tune, so I bought the trigger and added a recoil pad. It feels as if I now have a highly tuned precision rifle in my hands. Today two tree rodents were just under 30yards from me barking at each other. I took the one facing me from a standing of hand shot right behind the ear. I reloaded, breathed settled my crosshairs lightly squeezed the grt and the second squirrel fell the victim of a head shot also. The only reason for any of you perspective buyers not making this purchase might be your reluctance in becoming a mass murderer of critters. This is the best bang for the buck by far.

Thank you grand wizard of airgun triggers!

Bob,
I wanted to let you know about my experience with your trigger.  I was a little skeptical that the installation would be simple from the level of detail in your instructions.  I installed the trigger on a Gamo Shadow Sport.  It was probably the easiest fix/upgrade I've ever done on any firearm/pellet gun.  It dropped right in, no fitting, filing, polishing, adjusting necessary.

The improvement to the pellet gun is unbelievable.  This one simple inexpensive upgrade will increase the enjoyment I get out of the this gun 10 fold!  I have never felt a trigger like this on an air rifle.

Thank you!

I just installed my GRT-III trigger in my Gamo Shadow 1000...and....WOW!
I can't believe it's the same gun! I'm going to wear this thing out now, it hasn't seem much use in the past because of the horrible trigger but now......
If you haven't picked up one of these triggers yet, you better. I can't say enough, I've had this rifle for 2 years now and only played around with it now and then; still shot great groups at 30 yards but I just didn't care for the way the trigger felt. Then I got lucky and ran into a guy at a gun show who told me about Bob aka CharlieDaTuna and his trigger. I love my Gamo now....I even bought a trigger for my buddy, he'll get it tomorrow, he's going to freak.

Dear Bob (aka Charlie)

Can't say enough about this trigger. I ordered it Friday, received it on Monday at 2:30pm, and was shooting dime size groups from 30 yds by 2:45pm. Those of you with Gamo's (Whisper, Varmint) look out for that roller pin when you remove the receiver- it tends to have a mind of its own. Luckily, as Bob mentioned in the installation, I was expecting it to fall out. I can't get over how light the trigger pull is.... my first shot went off well before I was expecting it to. The first stage was like butter- very short travel until you feel that slight stop before second stage. Once you hit the 2nd stage, all you have to do is breath on it to discharge. Those of you with Gamo's or any other compatible rifle should SERIOUSLY consider this upgrade... I never realized how bad the factory trigger is until I installed it. I've got a Beeman R7, and the feel of Bob's trigger in my whisper blows it away.

Thanks again,

Jason Bender

Hi Charlie,

I had bought a Cabela’s Sportsman and the trigger on it was even usable!  I’ve had a lot of air guns but I haven’t bought any new ones in a long while. If this is the way all the new triggers are I wonder how people even hit a target from 25 yards out!  After the first shot out of the gun I was ready to take it back. Instead I tried the trigger adjustments that they had installed on the gun. This made no difference or maybe even made it worse. Took the gun apart only after about 10 shots and looked at the trigger mechanism and was not happy with the looks of the prefab, cheap looking mechanics of  the anything inside there!  The gun looks great and you would never expect something so cheap looking inside it! It is like buying a Corvette with a cheap undersized metal pressed steering wheel rapped in rubber. After thinking about modifying the trigger and going thru a lot of headaches, I looked on the internet thinking someone had to figure out this problem already. First sight I come to is Charlie the Tuna! Funny I have a good friend we call the same. Charlie says he has it all figured out. Well I got the trigger less than a week after I ordered it and installed it as soon as I got home!  It took me a whole 10 minutes!   “It was a new gun”!  The instructions where very easy to follow and the trigger falls right into place like it belongs there! Nice work Charlie! It is great to see that there is still some real craftsmen out there!  Great Job and Great product! Thanks for saving me the from the headaches of working on the trigger myself or even taking the gun back!

Thanks

Subject: GRT-III Triggers Arrived

 Dear Bob,

I ordered your GRT-III last Sunday night and it came in the mail Thursday. Thanks for the speedy service! The new trigger is for a 177 cal. Gamo Hunter 890S. The rifle has about 3500 shots thru it. It was a very hard gun to shoot consistently. I was sorry I bought this gun. It seemed like every time I picked it up, I had to sight it in. I used to have a 30 year old Beeman C1. Only had to sight it in when I changed pellet styles. I was always wondering what was I doing wrong with the Gamo gun. I have read all about how to hold an air rifle, breathing techniques, pellets, changes in temperature, etc. I never had any trouble with the Beeman, I just pointed and shot and rarely missed. By mistake I left the Beeman cocked for several weeks. Thinking that I had ruined the spring, I gave it to a friend and bought the Gamo hunter 890S.

Well, like everybody else seems to say; WOW! Your trigger conversion is great! Installation was easy. Took my time. Since the stock was off, I oiled the trigger assembly like you suggested as well as the barrel pivot points, spring and any other linkage. Then I installed the new trigger and put the stock back on. Total time spent, twenty-five minutes.

The gun is totally different. Now I get nickel size groups at 30 yards, every time! I can't believe it. For two years I was sorry I gave my Beeman away. Not anymore! My Gamo Hunter is shooting great! After I sighted it in with your trigger installed, I shot five English Sparrows and one Blue Jay, all perched on a power line, with six shots at about 30 yards. Before the trigger UPGRADE, I always felt lucky when I hit a bird, squirrel or bullseye. Now I shoot with confidence! DEADLY AGAIN!

 Yours truly,

Bob McKinney

Triggers Arrived

Hi Bob

I received all four of my triggers today. I was really surprised that they came so quickly. Thanks for the great service. It took me a half hour to install all four, so that part was easy. Then I took them all outside to shoot a couple of rounds. Bob I don't know what to say. You must be some genius. I'm sure you need to receive some award for these triggers. All four my rifles have been transformed from OK to phenomenal. I didn't even adjust them. They work perfectly the way you set them up. I could not believe that some small metal component that arrives in a brown envelope can make such a huge difference. Bob, what also impressed me was the quality of the triggers and the tolerances. Everything fitted together perfectly, without being too tight or too loose. They also look great in the rifles. I saw some guys asking for a different colour, but the gold really works for me. Thanks for the great product and great service. I don't know what more to say. I was a little frustrated with my Gamo's. I really like them and have learned to live with the triggers. Now they are perfect. I also have two Diana's a Hatsan 1250 and an AR1000. As far as trigger feel goes now, the Gamo's are way ahead, and that's saying a lot considering I'm used to Diana triggers.

GRT-III

Hey Bob,

Received your GRTIII trigger the other day for my Gamo Varmit Hunter. I saw other post that said even a cave man could do it...so I figured here goes! My first surprise was when the trigger housing popped out and things went flying! After multiple swear words and promises to God if only He's get me through this, I got the trigger in. I did go back and forth thru the pictures on my computer a few times because I had all these left over pieces and I thought that I really screwed up.

Your GRT trigger is so great in its simplicity! After I had it back together and test fired it, I actually thought I was shooting someone else’s gun! The trigger pull was so smooth that at this point I don't even want to mess with it. A nice crisp break!

I just picked up the old trigger and looked at it and thought "what a cheap piece of crap!" Yours is a quality item and it even makes my Gamo look good!

Anyone out there reading this??? (I know its at the bottom of a thousand other testimonials)...This is the best investment (at an unheard of price)  you can make for your air rifle.

Thanks again,

Jeff

Subject: Re: Comments from Russia on GRT-III installation

Good day

I received GRT trigger 3 weeks ago (huge thanks!) and now I guess it’s time to sum up the results.

First, some words about the rifle.

Mine is Gamo CFX Royal, produced late 2007, upgraded with Russian-made gas spring. Gas spring force is set to 59 kg (tuned for optimal performance with Crosman Premier Ultra Magnum 10,5 grain pellet, which I prefer most for quality/accuracy/price reasons). Other upgrades include custom-made piston seal with zero “dead volume”.

Spring and seal are both made by “Petrucha” – well-known Russian custom airgun and parts maker (and researcher, he’s highly respected for that part).  Optics is Leapers 3-9x40 MilDot installed on Diana Special Magnum mount.

Using all this I can achieve 8-11 mm groups of 5 pellets @ 25m with ease. Sometimes, irregularly, groups shrink down to 6 mm, but that’s just luck I guess. At 50m best average groups tend to grow up to about 25mm and pellet starts to loose speed – so I got to aim close to 1 mil upwards. Longest aimed shots I remember were some 75m just to test grouping, which was about 50-60 mm. All in all, my rifle made me proud many times.

Thing that made me wish for more was the trigger: too long a pull (about 20+ mm), too much force to be applied, too little info from the movement (“first stage” was just compressing the spring). I felt that trigger was the weak spot – long heavy pull made my rifle “want too much” about holding it steady and  sometimes resulted in failed groups.

Of course, I polished all the surfaces, screwed in all the screws and did some voodoo about the springs, added some washers etc. but all that could not solve the problem the way I wanted.

I asked my friend Alexey (he is a frequent e-bay buyer, so he knows ins and outs) to make a deal. Then you received my letter and voila – GRT is mine.

Installation went easy and smooth, with no trouble at all. In fact, it's so simple that it's almost impossible to do something wrong way.

First things noticed: trigger pull became featherweight. Travel dropped to 11 mm and it was real 2 stages, articulated and informative. After installation I shot about 50 pellets in the air, just to make iron sit back into wood. Then I retightened screws and the real shooting began.

First of all, @25m bullets holes “jumped” some 20 mm higher from their usual impact point. I think that’s the first result of a lighter trigger pull – heavy pull makes the barrel to travel some parts of mm downwards. A little bit of clicking with the scope did the trick.

Groups didn’t change much – it was still 5 pellets in 8-11 mm groups @25m, however there are more “doubles” and “triples” and I even noticed some “cloverleaves” – 4 bullets fly through almost same hole in the paper. Groups @50m were still close to 25 mm, but with 2 or 3 holes much closer together than the others.

What really changed is the ease of handling and overall control of the rifle. And it feels great. My rifle became more “forgiving” and easy to shoot. Of course, I think it’ll take some hundred shots more to get full understanding of rifle’s new behavior, to tune up pull and travel to optimum and got used to all of its new advantages.

GRT is a truly great stuff. I highly recommend it to every "marksman" Gamo-user, however, "hunters" should use it with care: light pull and short travel make it not so safe in forest.

Thank you and best regards

Sergey

Hi Charlie and to say I received the trigger to day. I have done the installation and all I can say is SENSATIONAL and above all your trigger has the most PROFOUND EFFECT ON GROUPING.

Your grouping comes down dramatically because now you can concentrate on composing your shot without having to worry about heavy trigger pull. My trigger pull is so light now I can hardly feel it. No extra setting was needed.

Good luck Charlie and thanks.

Hello, I'd just like to say that for the price I feel like I just bought a new airgun for $30.00! I like how easy it is to install, & I love how easy it is to shoot! I didn't even need the instructions,  you just replace your trigger with this one... I dare say "It's so easy a caveman could do it!"

I am less accurate now with this, because I'm accustomed to SUCKY TRIGGERS. But that's my fault not the trigger's.

My one gripe is the andonization in Gold. I try to keep a military M40 look about my pellet gun... 1.5-6X44 Leapers swat scope, Accushot Low profile 1 piece mount,
Gamo riser rail on a Shadow Sport. I think I'll deal though, cuz the feeling of not fighting w/ my own gun is amazing! I think I can take it to the range now & work at 50 yards!

To anyone with a brain, a Gamo, & a wallet I say this: "Buy This Trigger"

James

G'Day Charlie,

I have just installed your GRT III Trigger into my new Gamo CFX Air Rifle, and have to say the difference it has made to the feel of shooting it absolutely amazing. With the stock trigger fitted I sometimes had to stop and take another breath in between the shot as it was a firm pull and taking a steady shot would take forever. Now with the GRT III trigger installed it is a much lighter, and a very, very smooth pull. Installation was a breeze, I had the word file and the PDF file on display while doing the install, and it was that easy that I really just followed the pictures from the PDF install file.

The GRT III is great value and anyone that has an Air Rifle that takes this trigger and still has the stock trigger installed, do yourself a favor and get one of these triggers ASAP, I guarantee you will not be disappointed, the difference is like comparing a cheap car to a Mercedes Benz.

Thanks again Charlie, I'm going back outside to do some more shooting!!

I AM A LONG TIME SPRINGER AND MY OTHER GUN IS AN R1 COMMERATIVE,I KNOW HOW TO SHOOT AND MY GROUPS WITH CROSSMAN PREMIERS WAS NO BETTER THAN 3 TO 4 INCHES AT ABOUT 40 YRDS. I DID NOTHING MORE THAN INSTALL AND ADJUST YOUR TRIGGER AND IT IS PELLET ON PELLET AT THE SAME DISTANCE THANK YOU,DAVE HOLLEBEEK,GRAND RAPIDS MICHIGAN

Hi Bob, though I am not the type of person to endorse other people's products, I do believe in giving credit where credit is due. The GRT-III is definitely due lots of credit, and so is your service! I could not believe that 3 hours from ordering on-line I would get an email confirming payment, and telling me the trigger was already in the post, bloody good service! 8 days later it arrived, and 15 minutes later I was out shooting with my new trigger installed. The trigger has made a huge difference to my Shadow Sport, far more accurate and much nicer to use. I am a very happy camper!
Keep up the good work Bob, and many, many thanks.

Charlie or Rob whichever you prefer. I want to thank you for not only your professionalism. But your true skill. My friend i am deeply satisfied with the way that my cfx now performs. When i first unpacked the gun and cocked the handle down i almost thought that the thing was broke it was so smooth. Upon first shooting the gun i realized that Gamo has a fine jewel if only they would hire you as there tuner. I mean wow it isnt even close to the same gun i first shot. As i have not fully broke it in of course it allready groups so much better. The trigger is soo nice, and the gun itself is much much easier to shoot. I have noticed a much more forgiving shot, and a nice solid thunk instead of a twang. If this is posted on your site from the deepest part of my heart this man is good. Best money i ever spent on any pellet rifle. I have had a few from rws to even a few beemans i loved them all but i have to say the Gamo is a lot of bang for the money as long as Charlie works on it.

God Bless you and your family Charlie.

Bob,

I ordered my Gamo CFX air rifle and GRT-III trigger at the same time.  The trigger arrived, flawless, and in a minimal amount of time.  The rifle just arrived (a week after the trigger)...my hat is off to you for service, shipping and now support!

I was a little scared at first to disassemble the new air rifle, but it had the Air Venturi piston installed by the guys at Pyramid Air, so I figured I'd give it a whirl.  Plus, you sent excellent detailed instructions with both written words and illustrations to boot.

I put the rifle, the trigger, some tools and my laptop on my workbench and started working.  To my surprise, it took me less than 5 minutes to remove the receiver, install the trigger and put everything back together again.  An even greater surprise was firing it after the new trigger was installed!

Prior to installing your masterpiece of a trigger I zeroed in my new Centerpoint 3-9 X 50mm scope.  It took more than a few pellets due to the "when is it going to fire" factory trigger.  However, after the trigger install, the rifle fires consistently everytime and is much more predictable.  You have done a great job with this product and I appreciate the added upgrade.  Keep up the good work and safe shooting.

Hey, Charlie..I really appreciate your help the last couple days. I just thought I'd write a little review for you to post on your website as a thank you.

I ordered the GRT III for my Remington Summit and in mere days the trigger was in my mailbox. I was truly shocked at how fast I received it. After rushing it inside, the installation couldn't have been easier and the performance afterwards was astonishing. The draw went from being heavy, long, and unpredictable to having a light and clean break, which really improved my group sizes. Unfortunately, I wore out the safety latch on my gun, so I'll be returning the rifle before long. I emailed Charlie to ask for his opinion on which gun to upgrade to and that’s when I was surprised yet another time. Unlike the run around customer service I've grown used to these days, I was promptly responded to, not just on one but to all of my questions.  He directed me to the Diana 34 and because GRT III isn't compatible with the RWS models, he offered to reimburse the expense of the trigger. This shows that he genuinely cares about the happiness of his customers and not just his profit. While I won't be needing the trigger anymore, I'll surely be back for a tune up at a later date because of the sincerity I've witnessed.

Thanks again,

Wes

Thank you,

Everett Moss

Charlie! Thanks very much for the GTX-III triggers for our Gamo CFX and Whisper rifles.

Both installations were a breeze and I the difference was amazing.

Having been familiar with shooting the Bushmaster DCM rifle with a 2 stage trigger, I thought for sure that your trigger was going to be a very small improvement in the performance when applied to the pellet rifles. Boy was I wrong. The improvement was dramatic!

By far, the small investment spent on your triggers should be mandatory for all pellet rifle owners. Thanks for providing such a superior performing product, superior customer service, and for being just a regular nice guy.

Bob, Thanks SO much!
I installed the GRT-III in my Gamo CFX .177. I'd purchased it about 6 weeks ago and had somewhere around 500 shots through it. I'd read all the reviews about how bad the CFX trigger was but thought to myself "Eh, it really can't suck THAT bad, i'll just deal with it."  Try as i might though i just couldn't. It was gritty feeling, it was hard to pull, and the most annoying thing.... mine didn't always release at the same spot.

Enter the GRT-III. I already knew i had all the tools because i had done an earlier tear-down and inspection of the gun. So the swap honestly took ~5 minutes. Install is dirt easy.  Cock and load for my first shot with the GRT-III , pulled nice and slow to get a feel for it, little bit of first stage, TINY amount of resistance for 2nd and the shots off! Amazingly better to shoot. Haven't had much time to go shooting but fired off a couple dozen shots out the back door.

Bob, your trigger is AMAZING!! it completely changed the feel of my CFX.

GRT-III triggers

I recently purchased four of Bob's golden triggers and they are awesome. I waited a few months to see if the triggers on my current rifles would "break in" but not a chance, cause junk does not improve with time. The installation took all of ten minutes or less and the improvement is remarkable. The CFX, Hunter 440, Big cat and Storm XT are all very predictable when the trigger is pulled and the pull is short and sweet The accuracy is markedly improved as is the consistency. The CFX is the most accurate of the bunch, quarter size groups at 30 yards from a beginner, but they all shoot much better. I no longer have to take multiple breaths before the rigger breaks to just get pellets down range and hope they hit the target I just breath aim and pull and hit the very point on the target I was aiming for.I am having more fun now than ever before.

Thanks Bob for the wonderful product.

 Hey Bob,

Just wanted to let you know that I installed the trigger on my sons GAMO VARMINT HUNTER in less than ten minutes.  My 13 year old son was so happy that he wanted to shoot it right away.  He was shooting silver dollar size groups at 30 yards with the factory trigger and now shoots dime size groups with the GRT III.  Amazing !!!!  I had the chance to shoot it and there is no comparison in the trigger pull as well as the smoothness.  My son and I decided to try and shoot his gun at 85 yards at a 20 oz. plastic Gatorade bottle and was surprised to hit it the majority of the time. (we had to aim high to compensate for the drop)  But with the GRT III we were able to be more precise with our shots.  I plan on sending the gun to you later in the year to have a Turbo Tune kit installed.  Thank you for taking the time to answer some of the questions that I had prior to receiving the GRT III.  You make an awesome trigger!!!  Squirrels beware....there is a new sniper in town!

This is David E. and I recently purchased a GRT-III trigger for my Gamo CFX.  I was really displeased with the trigger that originally came with the gun and it decreased my accuracy due to the lack of trigger creep.  When I looked at your trigger as an option for replacement, my only concern was installation.  Your instructions for installation were right on the dot and it was exactly as easy as it was advertised to be.  It is clear that you have taken a lot of time to work on those instructions and I appreciate that greatly. My accuracy has greatly gone up and I attribute that to the trigger.  Thank you for a great product.

I installed the GRTIII this aftenoon after taking some shots for comparison. To say I was happy is an understatement. The trigger made such an improvement I could hardly believe it. You belong in some kind of Hall of Fame for mechanical improvers. The install went well except for my screw up of not getting the lever in the slot as advised. It is so great to be able to concentrate on form now instead for trigger pull. I now know my scope is good and the problem I was having was in the ergonomics. Thank you so much once again. I registered with the GTA forum, when you see OHPLNKR it's me. I have a LOT to learn as I am so new to airguns. The mod went on a Silver Shadow 1000 about 1 yr. old with 1K shots through it.

Some day I'll get her to you for a tuneup. Thanks again !

Just wanted to let you know I received the GRT-III for my Gamo Whisper today. I installed it as soon as it came. Installation was a snap took about 10 minutes just like you said. I did not need to make any adjustments to it the feel was perfect for me. All I can say is  Unbelievable!!! It was like shooting a different gun. The factory trigger was terrible lots of creep and way to heavy. The GTR is smooth and very light, feels just like my deer rifles. Free hand shots are much much easier and ten times more accurate .  If anyone is looking to upgrade the trigger on your spring air rifle Don't hesitate the GTR is awesome, you will be 100% happy with this trigger. Your groups will shrink and your kills  increase.

I purchased a Crosman G1 Extreme on clearance at Walmart last week on a whim but was so dissatisfied with the trigger I was ready to return it. I'm used to target triggers like my FWB 300 and Daisy 777 have and a mile of heavy mushy travel didn't cut it. You've transformed this cheapo rifle into a tack driver that's a pleasure to shoot. Bob,

I received my rifle back from you last week, but due to weather and work constraints, couldn't really try it out until the afternoon. I can't begin to describe how pleased I am with your craftsmanship. You have taken what I would have called just another” pellet gun", and made an "air rifle " out of it. The trigger is light and crisp, allowing me to hold on target and shrink those groups. The rifle cocks smoothly and there is no more spring twang. recoil is lighter and the release of the trigger no longer affects my hold on target as it did before.

I must also praise your customer service, as it is first cabin all the way. You kept me informed of progress, and let me know when it shipped and the tracking number. First class craftsmanship, first class service, my next air rifle will be drop shipping to you directly from the retailer. I don't even want to see it until you've worked on it.

Best regards

Good Evening Bob,

You are the man, my Gamo 220 shoots better than most high priced rifles I own or have shot. It's even fun to shoot. I'm sorry it took so long to let you know how the tune-up went but I've been away and didn't have a chance to get any pellets through it. I've now fired about 650+ JSB Yellow Match Diabolo's (8.02 gr.) and the gun is much more accurate and consistent than I could have hoped for. I've spread the word to fellow shooters and I believe it should result in some more business for you. I've got two more Gamo's and once I have the funds they will get the TurboTune as well.

Thanks again and I'll be in touch, try to get some time to yourself this weekend....;)

Take care,

Hi Bob:

I wanted to let you know that after several days of shooting my Shadow S1K that I am very impressed with your abilities and workmanship and the service you provide. What you have made this gun into was more than I was expecting by far.

As I told you during our phone conversation, after having my Silver Shadow tuned by (“xxxxxxx” edited out) a so-called tuner that resides on the Network 54 Yellow forum, I was far from being impressed with both the trigger mod as well as the tuning results. It was quite a disappointment and needless to say, he never got my S1K or any other business. I was informed by a couple of other airgunners that I should spend the little bit of difference in cost and go with you but elected to go the other way. Big mistake.

That said, and after your offer, I as you know, sent my S1K for the TurboTune and the GRT-III trigger. The difference in results between what you do and what (“xxxxxx” edited out) is dramatically different. The end results from you were what I expected from (“xxxxxx” edited out). Live and learn I guess.

You are a well known pro with a terrific reputation. You will be in business for a long time and will always have satisfied customers based on what I’ve seen, your professionalism, abilities and the way you conduct your business. And you are a true pro.

It’s like a different gun and I would never have believed it unless I saw it for myself. It’s everything that every body says about you and your work and I know now why you are so well know in the airgun field. Well worth the money and there is no doubt that I would do it again. In fact, I will be sending you my CFX in a couple of weeks.

Thanks again for making this gun into a fantastic shooter and I’ll be in touch again in a few weeks.

Mr. Werner…Charlie…Bob

I received my RWS-46 back from you and was able to get to shoot it yesterday and today. I cannot believe the difference in the gun. I had reservations about spending the additional money for your Turbotune in a fairly new gun but after reading about you and your magic, I bit the “pellet” pellet and decided to have it done.

I thought this gun was shooting pretty good prior to sending it to you but after getting it back, there is no doubt about the benefits and improvement. I don’t know what you do or how you do it but all I can say is that it was the best money I have ever spent in my airguns. I’m one of those that now know about the “Tuna’s” magic. It is just a fantastic shooter now, much smoother, easier cocking and much more accurate. At 40 yards I can now place nickel and quarter size groups while before being tuned a was happy when I got 2 inch groups. I attribute this to the much better shooting characteristics.

I have a Gamo Shadow and a FWB-127 that will be coming your way soon.

All I can say is thanks for the great service and fantastic job. Keep up the good work.

Hi Robert

My B-26 arrived in great shape and your turn around time was just as you said it would be. I expected it might be gone for weeks. I waited to e-mail you because I wanted to put a tin or so through it first.

The difference that you made in this B-26 is incredible and it’s like it is not the same gun. I don’t know how you do it and what all you do but tuning it was sure is worth the money. It’s a totally different animal now and so much more fun to shoot. Smoother shooting, the recoil is less with no torque and much more accurate.

When looking at the returned parts I couldn’t believe the cant in the factory spring and the seal damage with only a few hundred pellets through it. I can see where the seal was damaged when they assembled the gun too but it was what you told me to expect. There sure is a big difference in how it shoots and feels now. You sold me a tuned B-20 6 or 7 years ago when you and James Kitching were selling guns that I traded a few years back and this B-26 has brought back old times. I should have kept it. This one isn’t going anywhere for sure…lol…

All I can say is thanks for the great job and service.

Smooth cocking, no twang or vibration and the improvement in accuracy at 35 yards is greatly increased shooting dime size groups now when I do my part. And the improvement in the trigger is unbelievable. Best investment I could have made in a toy and I see why they refer to you as the Gamo God. RWS 48

The 48 made it home today as expected. You have made this old man happy (if you can call 52 old). I knew that it could be improved but I didn’t know how much. Now I know. Fantastic job and well worth the expense although I must admit that I had my doubts. I wasn’t sure it was the same gun that I sent it was so different. But from everything that I have read and everybody that I talked to, all said you were the man to send it to.

It still is a bit heavy to cock but as you told me, that would not be reduced much but is smoother cocking and has less recoil and not nearly so harsh shooting. It’s a real pleasure to shoot now. I also like the way that you set up the closing pressure when you cock the gun. I forgot to mention it in our discussion and it always did feel a little sloppy to me. But you caught it and fixed it during your servicing. Thanks.

To anybody that reads this, I highly recommend Charliedatuna. Its money well spent and worth every penny of it. Excellent service, honest, keeps you informed and a great person to talk to and deal with.

Hi Bob,

I received the gun (RWS54) and I remounted the scope and zeroed it in. The first immediate sensation was that the cocking was light and smooth and the trigger light and crisp. There was no spring vibration or recoil. The gun then began to punch holes that were touching and with lots of power; and it is not even broken in yet from the tune-up. Thanks, Bob, for the fine service. Just for the record, this is an unsolicited testimonial that you may use at your discretion. And further more, my Gamo CFX will be next!

Subject: CDT tuned CFX...long, but good and is..

in a word....awesome!!! Got it back the other day. First look out of the box I could see the Gold trigger staring at me. Cool! Next, I picked the gun up and realized the loose right piece of the forearm stock that came with the gun was now tight thanks to CDT. Now the gun was clean and shiny and tight. Here is the pre-tune story on my CFX.

Cocking the under-lever was rough, noisy and uneven. Heavy recoil and "thwang and big vibration" while pulling the trigger. Trigger pull very hard and unpredictable. Although the CFX only had 400 or so pellets through it at the pre-tune stage, I was hoping for some better groups at that point with the best shooting pellet at that time. I was leaning toward the JSB preditor.

Ok,..now for the post tune from CDT

Cocking the under-lever was much easier, with very little noise, (if any), and smooth as glass, from start to finish. The heavy recoil, thwang, and vibration is GONE. The new GRT trigger is........AWESOME!!! What a difference!!!! I can't begin to tell you what this trigger has done for this rifle. Again, just like the rest of the tune, the trigger is as smooth as glass. CDT also includes detailed specs on your gun including gun care, trigger specs and your guns chrony results before and after the tune up, and more.

I had to post a pic of my CFX from CDT below and add a few pre/post chrony numbers too. If you want a NEW air rifle...sent it to CDT. The difference is not night and day,...but midnight and mid-day!

BTW...I shot 4 different pellets through the CFX today. JSB Predators still won the day. I will post more results after my liberated CFX is " broken in again".

CDT pre/ results:

Trigger Lbs pull ave. 5.8
Highest Velocity fps 878
Lowest Velocity fps 861
Ave. Ft Lbs Energy 13.90

CDT post/ results:

Trigger Lbs pull ave. 1.7
Highest Velocity fps 899
Lowest Velocity fps 889
Ave. Ft Lbs Energy 14.73

Subject: CDT CFX pellet test..

As you may know I received the CDT turbo-tuned and new trigger from him this week. OK.....drooling again.
I used Crosman 7.9 domes (from the brown box), JSB predators, and Gamo Tomahawks. They all grouped well with not one "flier". I looked around and found some Gamo Rockets sitting in back of my pellet station as I call it. I went outside and put some fresh paper at 25 yds and grabbed a beer and returned to my shootin station. First shot...dead center. I then decided to shoot a 10 shot group with the rockets.

OMG....never...ever have I ever shot a 10 shot group like this, (even with powder burners), and with Gamo Rockets? The gun must like em. Going to Wally World tomorrow to get some more! This rifle is now a class one shooter thanks to the CDT tune+ trigger. BTW....keep in mind that this rifle is not broken in yet! Only 125 pellets since the tune. I can only imagine what it will do at its peak .

I got my gun back today and now its way better. At first I was going to send it back to Gamo until I heard about you from other people so I figured that I would send it to you. Anyways I was expecting to get back a Gamo shadow 1000. What I got back was a lot better than a Gamo. It fires more smoothly and a lot more accurate. When I cock the gun I don’t here grinding funny sounds anymore. If I would have sent it back to Gamo they would have replaced it but instead I got the turbo tune and now it’s like those German guns. Now the trigger I love the trigger. I had no idea that you could get the trigger that light and I love how it’s square and not rounded it gives me more feel. I thought the Gamo trigger was okay but now I can say that it has a great trigger and I owe that and the way it shoots now to Bob Werner so thank you very much! And I would recommend this tune and trigger to anyone.

Thanks Cody

Subject: Charlie Tuned Crosman Quest 800

I received my Quest 800 .22 back from Charlie today and all I could say is WOW he have definitely unlocked the BEAST. Amazing pre chrono average 663 fps & post chrono average 713 fps is just amazing, increasing the ft lbs. from 13.96 to 16.16 I just can't thank him enough. I can't leave out the trigger, this new GRT3 trigger is beautiful with the hair pin pull is well worth the money. I can't say enough about the communication, he kept me informed from beginning to the end, which was not long at all 1 day is all it took. When I received my gun back I immediately took it out of the box cocked it and at that time I knew that I was in for something special. After sighting it in with my new Barska 3x12x40AO scope I can kid you not I shot five shots with each pellet touching each other at 28 yards less than 1/8" from smashing the bullseye. This is a completely different gun that I have now, let me just tell you that the turbo tune was well worth the money. Thank you Bob, now I see why everyone call you Charlie 'Da Tuna" (Tuner indeed).

Hi Robert:

Now I know why they call you the Tuna man and why you are so highly regarded. All I can say is that what I invested in my B-30 with you was money well spent. The difference is hard to believe and far more than I expected. I wish you could have made it a couple of pounds lighter though….lol. I don’t know what you did to it but it sure makes a difference in how it shoots and the accuracy. I have an RWS-34 that I’ll be sending to you very soon. Thanks again for your patience and great service.

One more question. Do you have a particular pellet suggestion that may work best.

Oh…and I promise not to deluge you with e-mail the next time.

Tuned Gamo 220
December 22 2006 at 7:52 PM

I wanted to share my experience with Bob "CharliedaTuna". I was a little hesitant to drop another $180 on a rifle that I was already disappointed in, but decided to take the plunge. Am I glad I did! What follows is the email I sent him right after getting the gun back and testing it out...

Bob,

I just wanted to let you know that I got the rifle back today.

Wow, what a difference! It is now so much quieter than before. The new spring makes cocking noticeably smoother and lighter. The trigger job you did is fantastic - very smooth and light with no gritty travel at all. Best of all, the recoil has all but disappeared - just a mild bump is all that's left. Before, it would twitch and jerk like a hip-hop rapper doing the latest moves. Now it is very smooth and gentle, with no rotation or sideways jolt. The spring seems to make just a single thump as it fires. Nice job!

It also seems to be much more powerful. I noticed the chronograph results showed an increase of nearly 60 fps. The only downside to that is it now shoots right through my pellet trap, whereas before it would only dent the back plate. Problems like that, I can live with!

My shot groupings seem much tighter, but that's just using the iron sights. I can't wait to put the scope back on, sight it in and see on paper just how good the magic is that you put into this gun. There's nothing like good old American craftsmanship from a man that takes pride in his work. You certainly do, as evidenced by the job you did on my Gamo.

Bottom line, I couldn't be more pleased. I am looking forward to shooting at least a tin or two of pellets over the Christmas holidays. This gun now rocks! Thank you!

Hi Bob,

My TX-200 arrived this afternoon. Thanks for you great turbo tune. I don't know what you do but no more twang and very little recoil. Have only shot a few groups but they are much tighter than before tune. Thanks for the nice trigger adjustment. I honestly believe this is something everyone should have done to their springer. Loved the chronograph report! Been looking at different brands but cannot decide which to buy. What is you recommendation on a brand and model? Thanks again and Happy Seasons Greetings.

Well I got my B26 back yesterday and thanks for packing it a little better than I did. I just wanted to let you know that I couldn’t wait to get a few pellets through it last night. Fantastic, just fantastic. It doesn’t seem like the same gun that I sent. You sure do good work. I thought I liked it before. It sure is a smooth shooter now and the cocking has improved also. I can tell already that it is more accurate using the iron sights but it got to dark to really test it. Got to get the scope mounted it tomorrow and this weekend I’ll put its through it’s paces. Then look out bushy tails.

Thank you for your great work. Karl

Gamo Viper

Hi Bob,

Since I picked up my Gamo Viper last week I've only had time to shoot around 200 pellets, but while taking those 200 shots I could only think of one word, Sweeeeeeeeet! Your GRT trigger is unbelievable. What a difference it makes. Everything about the gun is smooth and I have not had to adjust the "adjustable" scope mount once. Before it would get loose after 50 or so shots.

Thanks for the great tune. I'm sure I will be driving up to Simpsonville again in the near future.

Subject: Shadow 1000 .20 Caliber................

Got up early this morning and went over to CDT's house and rousted him outa da bed a 60am..Drug him to his shop and through my new Wally World Shadow 1000 on the bench with a new Walthers Choked .20 Cal barrel from Rich, AKA "Peterdragon"....

Immediately CDT's eyes got as big as eggs when he picked up the barrel and checked the rifling and choke out. He carefully ran a pellet through the barrel with a dowel. Very slow until it popped out on the bench. He picked it up and pulled down the big lighted magnifying glass from over head. He gazed at the pellet for a moment or so spinning in his fingers and said, "the rifling is perfect on this barrel". I looked at the pellet head outer surface myself and there you could see I think lines on the outer edge of pellet. I learned now what a nice choked barrel is supposed to spit out..

CDT then called his Doberman out of the house and told him to watch me till he was done. So I went to the corner while Fritz laid starring at me for 4 hours.

While I was sitting for all that time, CDT was exchanging the .177 Gamo barrel with the .20 cal Walthers barrel. Giving the Shadow a complete Turbo Super Tune with spring, GRT-III trigger, and custom made spring guide, then deburring all parts, honing the chamber tube, washing cleaning and blow dried everything.

Then he took out seven containers with a different lube in each. He then applied the different lubricants to different parts of the Shadow just like he does all of his tunes. He was using home made tools that he made to apply lube meticulously all over the Shadow’s working parts.

Well 4 hours later CDT he looked over at Fritz told him to go in the house and called me over to the chrony and said shoot the dang thing..

First thing I noticed was the barrel was a bit bigger and the Shadow was a tad heavier but not much. I threw in a pellet that Rich, AKA "Peterdragon' had supplied with the barrel. Laid the barrel on the chrony rest and fired. First shot was 683 but all consecutive shots were between 728 and 783. As I put in the pellets and shot, the numbers improved. We put in around 15 pellets for chrony testing and come out with about a 760 FPS average.

To say the least, I am very very pleased with the outcome of the Conversion. Rich, AKA "Peterdragon" had sent me a flawless barrel that converted very easily. He also sent along a tool to use in order to remove old barrel with and, pellets, muzzle brake and allot of talent and workmanship. Thanks Rich and thanks to CDT's excellent airgusmithing.

I have ordered 6 tins of Beeman FTS pellets and will have some more information after the weekend.

Noted by Charlie: The GRT-III trigger was also installed in Darryl’s CFX.

Bob,

I got the CFX this Saturday (I was surprised since Saturday delivery is usually extra). I notice that Gamo changed the CFX a little bit. The last one I had didn't have a separate elevated scope mount and the rotating breech was chrome plated. The new rotating breech is some sort of sand blasted finish on it. I think now only the CFX Royals come with the chrome plating and machined in functional scope dovetail.

In any case the new CFX that you TurboTuned is just fantastic. This one feels like a truly precision instrument instead of a toy. It doesn't even feel like a "springer" it feels almost as if I am shooting a .22 rifle with just a small recoil but no twang or twisting. I have a friend with an FWB 124 and not only is the trigger better than his, but the CFX you worked on appears to be more powerful, more accurate, and smoother shooting. By the way, his FWB 124 originally had a Beeman tune and wasn't a bad gun, but it was vastly improved with a Maccari spring with heavy tar, and a new Maccari seal. Your work on the Gamo has surpassed his tuned Feinwerkbau.

While I can't say that you've transformed a Gamo into a Feinwerkbau, you've made it perform as good as one. Thanks for an outstanding job!

Subject: Quest 800x Post tune by Charlie
Posted 7/23/2006 10:22 AM (#2191)

Just got my Quest sighted in after it's return from Datuna'. For all of you that know the type of work Bob does it goes without saying, but to those who are thinking of having a tune done to their springer read on....I sent my rifle off to Bob, AKA Charliedatuna, for a super tune and trigger. What came back was an entirely different class of rifle. The trigger was the highlight of the tune. All you have to do is think and the trigger breaks as though it was a delicate glass rod. No movement other than the initial take up which you have to really be concentrating to feel but it is there. The rifle is quieter and more powerful than before with an increase of 80 to 90 fps. Now for the good part if you can believe it could get better. After the initial sight in which only took 6 pellets it preceded to place all pellets in a ragged hole easily covered by a dime at 15 yds. These are just the first shots at a short distance to further refine the scope adjustments. Not having any more time yesterday I cleaned and put the rifle away. This morning I woke to the sound of a bird feeder destroying fiend who was doing his darndest to put an end to the just newly purchased replacement to the last feeder that was hanging in the same spot a few days earlier. I snuck around to the side of the house and unleashed the fury of the Charlie tuned Quest and with surgical precision placed an RWS hobby pellet into the offending intruders melon and it preceded through and out of its computer rendering its motherboard inoperable. Needless to say, the rifle did its job. I am more than impressed with the rifle's performance. The tune made the rifle so much smoother, took away the shock and twist associated with the firing cycle. It was well worth the money spent as I received a rifle that far surpassed my expectations. If anyone is considering a tune from Bob, don't hesitate any further. I can recommend Bob without question. My rifle is a gem, a far cry from what it was. If anyone has any questions about this rifle feel free to email me. I will try to answer them if possible. I do have before and after's also if anyone would like to see.

E-mail from Jerry C. 7/18/06

Hello Bob,

All I can say is Awesome! Oh what a difference a tune makes, and that trigger is right on! Just think and it shoots. What a pleasant surprise. I can feel the difference in power also. Pellets are disintegrating in the trap. Thanks for a job well done. Waiting for the scope so I can get down to the nitty gritty with this thing. Thank you Bob, it was worth every penny.

I think I've found a piece of heaven...
PorridgeWeasel

and it's my just returned Shadow 1000.

I sent it to CharlieDaTuna for a Super Tune and GTX-II trigger after about 2000 rounds. Now, I've read plenty of reviews of his work and there were comments like; "It's a different gun", "Unbelievable" etc. All I can say is, "Wow!"

I had a chance earlier today to shoot it outside (2 shots) and my reaction was (truthfully) a continuous giggling "Oh my God!".

About 15 minutes ago I came back upstairs after putting my BSA 3-9 X 40 back on and sighting it in at 10yds. I still can't believe what I was able to do. 7 shots inside a dime and one of them was off due to my inexperience with the trigger. 4 of them touch each other with one that shot thru THAT bunch.

I too must now say that I think Charlie just switched guns on me and gave me something different. Something amazing.

Outside I was struck at the reduction in noise. I also noted the crazy azz trigger pull.

After firing about 30 shots indoors I noticed something even better. A tremendous reduction in recoil and no spring twang sound. None. Just a solid "thunk" followed by a wail of pain from my pellet trap. The combination of trigger and reduction of recoil is truly amazing. The amount of strength required to cock the gun is also (in my opinion) significantly reduced as well as smoothed out. No where near 38lbs.

Now for all you number crunchers out there, the "info".

Pre-tune Chrony was: 884,872,893,886,885,897,878,904,899,882 with an extreme deviation of 32
Post tune Chrony was: 926,923,929,925,931,927,930,924,933,928 with an extreme deviation of 13
Avg. Ft lbs of Energy went from 13.84 to 15.13
He used 7.9g Gamo pellets for the test.

Average trigger pull pre-mod: 4 lbs 7 oz
Average trigger pull post mod: 1 lbs 10 oz

I am MORE than satisfied with his work at this point. I'll keep youz up to date as I re-brake it in if there is enough interest. I will chrony it again with my various pellets probably too.

Short end of the long story at this point is, if you are thinking of getting a professional tune up on your gun.....Think of Charlie. He certainly won't steer you wrong.

CFX Royal .177 Review..........................
May 9 2006 at 12:07 PM
Gene C.

The following information on my CFX Royal .177 is based on electronic data and actual personal experience with the above-mentioned rifle.

I bought this new CFX Royal .177 rifle on line through an auction for $214.50. After I got the rifle, I cleaned it up and installed a Leapers 3-9x40 AO Mil-Dot Scope with R/G LESCP-394AOMDL. This scope is very well made and very clear. Adjustment is very easy. Used Accushot one piece scope mount.

I then sighted in the scope adjusting the parallax to 10 yards. I was using RWS Superdomes. At this point I started to test for groups. I noticed that the CFX Royal was very rough and noisy, but trigger felt comfortable. I was getting very irregular groups at 10 yards inside the 1” circle and I could not get a bull’s eye at that distance. Then I grabbed my CFX .177 Synthetic that has been tune by CharlieDaTuna with a GTX trigger. Adjusted scope and bingo, I was hitting right on the bulls eye with the first shot. Then I picked up the CFX Royal .177 again kept trying for that bull’s eye, but no luck. I placed my target stand out at my 40yard marker. Fired my first shot at 40 yards with the CFX Royal and was no where near the bulls eye.. I always use those 5 ½” Shoot N See targets for initial scope adjustment and then go down to the 2” Shoot N See targets. I was able to get the groups with in 3” at this point but lots of them were scattered around the target. Nothing consistent. I ran through about 200 pellets. I then broke out some other pellets and tried again and again and things just got worse. I had fired around 600 pellets by now so I took it to Charlie. I am sorry I did not keep the old target to show you but I did keep the target that I used after CharlieDaTuna did his TurboTune on it. I did not have him do a GTX trigger on this CFX Royal .177 at this time. Click on thumbnails to see larger image:

Could not wait to get it home to check for accuracy. Finally I installed the Leapers 3-9x40 AO Mil-Dot Scope with R/G LESCP-394AOMDL and sited it in for a 10 yard target. Bingo was able to snag a bulls eye. And the at 40 yards. Bingo, it felt so goooood. The CFX Royal was like a different springer this time. Yes, CharlieDaTuna had done his magic on another one of my springers.

I am a novice with air gun springers and have no idea how to tear down one for maintenance. Maybe someday but right now I am enjoying the sport of shooting targets for accuracy thanks to Charlie.

Pre-Tune opinion of the CFX Royal .177…… On a scale from 0-10 – 0 being the poorest. This is based on my experience with Gamo Springer Models only.

Noise = 7 Dieseling = 5
Recoil = 7 Trigger = 8
Accuracy = 6

Post Tune- CharlieDaTuna, Tune Up

Noise = 10 Dieseling = 10
Recoil = 9 Trigger = 9
Accuracy = 10

As some of you know I have bought a few Gamo’s since I have joined this great forum. I do know this that every single one of them have been tuned and GTX triggers installed on some by CharlieDaTuna. The difference has been night and day. I really think that Gamo has a great rifle but they did not finish the job with detail of tuning.

CharlieDaTuna has made this sport for me a wonderful experience. I honestly do not think that if I had not sent my first springer “S1K” to CharlieDaTuna that I would not be here on this forum writing about this fantastic experience with a well tuned springer. A personal thanks to you CharlieDaTuna for all u have done.

I thank all the rest of you for all the help and advice that you have been so willing to give me.

Charlie, got the Beeman today. Wow. Whole different gun. I put the scope on and sighted it in. The cocking is very smooth instead of sounding like it's grinding something up every time. The trigger is great, nice and crisp. The spring has a nice thud instead of sounding like it's flopping around in there. Thanks!

I'm 62 and this is my first pellet rifle other than a daisy. While You were working on it I bought a couple of QB-78's in 22, also after some reading, I got a B-26, which I'll need your magic on sometime soon.

Well thanks, Charlie for making a rifle that I didn't think was to whippy when I got it into a great shooting rifle.

Been an Exciting day Here at da Gamo Ranch…. Read Review
April 5 2006 at 7:39 PM Gene C

On Tuesday I carried my Shadow 1000 over to Bob’s house “AKA Charlie Tuna”. Forgot to ask him how he got dat handle. lol. Anyway I went to Columbia, SC today and on the way home, Mr. Tuna called me on my cell phone to let me know my Shadow 1000 was ready to pick up.. wooo hoooo. Just happened to be going by his place on the way home so I stopped and picked up my Shadow. This was the second time that I had met Mr. Tuna. I have to describe him to some of you guys that have not met him before. He is a very meticulous person. I could tell right away by how is Air Gun Shop looked. Everything there was immaculate. You could of eating off da floor and benches. He has some fine machines in his shop. Drill press, Lathe, etc. and it all looks like new.

Now about Bob. My impression is that he is a decent, honest kind of guy. A man’s man sorta speak. He loves what he does and I notice that he has a fine collection of old and new rifles and pistols. The rifles he has restored and looks better than new. (Really). I am very fortunate to live near him.

Now about my Shadow 1000. It was like a completely different air rifle than I carried over there on Tuesday. Since I have had the Shadow, I have grown attached to shooting targets with it. I thought it was pretty accurate at 30 yards before I carried over to Bob. One thing that I did not like was the trigger. Was not smooth or predictable, not to mention the noise of the spring etc.

I carried the Shadow home and WOW, there was my New CFX .177 waiting on da porch for me. Already I could not wait to shoot some targets with the Shadow and now I wanted to open my new Toy… LOL.

I put my BSA Scope back on da Shadow and opened da new CFX up. Weeeeeeeeeee!!!! Set up me targets and sighted n me scope.

Let me tell you this. The Shadow is so nice now to shoot. The trigger is perfect for Targets Practice and I was hitting da dime 9 outa 12 shots. The Shadow sounds like it has a silencer on it now, and no noise outa da spring. VERY VERY VERY Smooth action. The Trigger pull is Damm nice.

Now for the CFX… he he…. I love it also. I like da trigger the way it is. It is quieter than the Shadow was when I got it. One thing I noticed right away after cleaning it up and takin 20 shots at fresh target at 30 yards without a scope. I hit da dime 14 outa 20 times without a scope. Could not get that many from da Shadow without da scope the first time I shot it.

Here is the writing on the wall Guys. Before and After Charlie’s Trigger Mod and Turbo Tune. Check out the difference. Amazing Would I recommend Charlie Tuna for Air Gun Smithing? DAMM RIGHT I WOULD……….

B20 22 cal back from charlie
March 9 2006 at 10:30 PM James Morrison

I got my b20 in 22 cal back from getting a turbo tune from CharlieDaTuna and I’m totally blown away with this gun and I can’t believe this is the same gun that I sent. I just have one thing to say...WOW…what a difference from I sent to what I have now. Talk about night and day. The tune sheet that was provided with my gun said it all. I still can’t believe this is the same gun that I sent him and that this gun had any power from looking at the old parts that were with the gun that he sent it back. Now it’s more smooth accurate and has plenty of kick. Just what I wanted. He will be getting all of my future tunes as well as my friends. I’m going to spread the word about him and his work that’s for sure. Thank you very much. The trigger is awesome and all thanks to CharlieDaTuna.

B30 review finished (results)

March 2 2006 at 5:19 PM

UPDATE: Review Post-Tuned

Wow, fast turn around Charlie! Just got the B30 back. Charlie didn't have it very long and he communicated nicely through the process. As soon as I got it I mounted a new Tasco Airgun Scope 3-9X32 with AO and target turrets on it. I took the chrony, predator pellets, Eun Jin pellets, Gamo hunters, and some field target specials outside. I had to shoot it first just to see how it felt. I was concentrating on the trigger pull more than anything, so I didn't even notice till after the next shot that the recoil was so mild. Just the standard "thunk". Very smooth and no spring twist at all. At least that's what if felt like. David McMillan was over here, so he shot it. I said "what do you think?" He said "Great gun, smooth, not harsh and no twang." I'm pretty sure he wants one now So I set up the chrony and ran FTS through. 740fps average with very little variance in velocities. Nice. Gamo hunters were 730 avg., Eun Jin (very, very heavy) went 466 fps. That surprised me that I got that much out of them. I felt the spring really take a nose dive on those, so that's the end of shooting those babies. The Predators shot 707 average. Now to shoot some groups.

The trigger is much better than before. Short first stage, short second stage. Charlie gave me a 4lbs trigger, but sent instructions on replacing the two existing trigger adjustment screws with longer ones to get it even better. I'll probably do that, but I really don't want it much lighter since this gun will only be used for hunting pests.
Right now, the B30 is smokin’ a bit out the barrel after shots, but Charlie sent a good instruction sheet explaining that, about the lubes creeping forward for a bit. He also mentioned that when the seal set's in good, I may gain, up to, an additional 3% on velocity. This is the hottest firing .22 I have had to date and was mainly looking for something over 700fps, preferably 750. So it fit's that bill even if it lost or gained any additional velocity.

Well, that's it. I now have the .22 hunter I have been wanting for quite sometime. I'll put a sling on it, pellet holder and call it good. Now I gotta baptize it in some Jack Rabbit blood.

Recommendation - Get one, get it tuned by Charlie and go get some vermin

I've own several Gamos and sold all but still kept my handsome Stutzen. Compared to the high end spring guns like Beeman, AA, Webley and Theoben, Gamos fall short. But these are actually pretty good. Here in Puerto Rico, that is the best you can shop around and they're expensive. For example; a Hurricane 1250 for $650.00, go figure...

If you like your shadow 1000, send it to CharlieDaTuna for a tune and a new GTX trigger. I did it with my Stutzen and the thing is a totally different gun now. Very, very nice. What can you expect form Charlie's tune? A bit power increment, a sweet shooting cycle and overall smoothness, a solid thud instead of the spring twang. Charlie uses Maccari internals. The new GTX trigger blade is a huge improvement over the factory trigger blade. Seriously, you should try it.

I am an accuracy nut when it comes to shooting my high powered air rifles and I just really enjoy shooting. I got into shooting my neighbors air guns because we could shoot right here in town without having to leave the area unlike high powered rifle shooting. He had a Gamo shadow and a Gamo 220, they were very fun, however the triggers were both horrible and he had major trouble with scope slippage on both guns. I really wanted an air gun but did not want a Gamo at first because of the trigger, but when I heard about BOB WERNER (CharlieDaTuna) I decided to start looking for a used rifle because from what I had heard he made them better than new. Well I found a Gamo 890 and sent it off right away to him. I took advice from his emails when I asked questions and the great advice from his website. I think you could get all the answers to your questions from his website especially by clicking on air gun docs.

Any way, when I sent it Bob communicated to me when he received it, started working on it and when he sent it back so you never have to wonder or worry. I got whatever he recommended and the GTX trigger mod.

The first day I shot my gun after he had worked on it; my neighbor was embarrassed to shoot with me. My groups are typically half the size of his. I found a pellet now that shoots a ten shot group at 45yds that is less than two inches in diameter with five of those shots hitting a nickel size bull!!! I know that when I shoot my neighbors gun, the trigger pull alone practically makes it impossible to shoot this accurately.

My trigger now pulls at less than 2lbs and my gun shoots pellets almost 100 fps faster on average than when I sent it to Bob. In my opinion this gun is worth more now than a high dollar RWS or most any other gun from the factory.

I also want to let you know that Bob Werner is not just a great business man who does great work; he is an overall nice, good person. It shows from all the emails and the phone conversation I have had with him. I advise you all if you are serious about your air gun to send it to Charlie the tuna and you will get back a gun that is better than the factory can make it brand new!!!!

Gamo - NRA Special Ed. (tuned)
December 28 2005 at 3:13 AM

Bought a NRA Special Edition Gamo and sent it unfired to CharlieDaTuna for his high end tune and a gtx trigger. Got it back from Charlie in like a week and a half or less.

Not having fired it first, I can't judge a before and after comparison however, let me say this. It is "in my opinion" a nice looking package, light weight, ambidextrous (I'm a lefty),very smooth to cock and fire, quiet at the muzzle and with a definite lack of spring noise or twang as compared to my ole Crossman Challenger that was made in West Germany many years ago for Crosman.

It is accurate and shoots in the low to mid 900 fps average with 8ish gr pels. which probably puts them in the 14 to 15 fpe bracket. A real pleasure to shoot. Still testing pellets, but I'm very impressed so far and am expecting more fpe and equal or better accuracy with mid wt. or heavier pels at lower speeds.

I can only attribute this to Charlie's magic, judging from previous threads I've read referring to some of the shortcomings of Gamos expressed by other readers. Only time will tell about the reliability, but isn't that true with any brand new gun. I don't anticipate any problems after Charlie worked it over.

Charlie is good people and a great guy to work with. He puts his all into doing you a good job and I think he really enjoys his work. Thanks Charlie.
Tuned Gamo 220
December 22 2005 at 7:52 PM

Thank you!

An E-mail from Tim Nov. 12 2005

Hi Bob,

I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with the results of the tune and trigger upgrade. The gun used to vibrate and jump in my hands, requiring great concentration and a little luck to hit the target. After the tune, it seems like a different gun. The vibrating twang has been replaced by a solid “thwack” with slight recoil. Now if I miss the target, it is operator error, not the gun jumping in my hand. Thanks to you, I am now totally accountable for my misses,

As a note to anyone with a Gamo gun, even if you just pulled it out of the box, send it to “Charlie” for him to work his magic. You will then realize the full potential of the gun. Get the trigger upgrade. The stock trigger pulled at over 6 lbs, under 2 after the upgrade. It feels like butter, so smooth and very predictable. I also gained about 50 fps. I had been pricing other guns, in the $500.00 plus range, since I am now hooked on airgunning. I thought I would have to spend that much to get the kind of performance that I am now getting with my gun, a Gamo Hunter 440. My groupings have gone from around the black to inside the black on a consistent basis. It is well worth the money spent. He is very professional, letting you know the status of the gun at each stage. Just do it, you won’t regret it. Thanks again,

Tim Null

Legacy tune-up

January 14 2006 at 11:58 AM springernut springernut
I just received a Benjamin Sheridan Legacy 1000 for Christmas. I had one of these over 20 years ago that was stolen and never replaced.

After getting it out of the box, I was kind of disappointed to see all the plastic parts that used to be metal, but figured what the heck, lets shoot it. The power is definitely still there, with all it's recoil, but what really surprised me was just how much the quality of the trigger had deteriorated.

After finding out that these things can be tuned up, I sent the rifle to Bob, aka "Charlie da tuna" for a super tune, and trigger tune. I must say that he did a great job with it. The spring twang has been changed to a dull thud, and a lot of the recoil twist is gone. The trigger is now much improved also. It had a 7lb. pull to start, with lots of creep, and the release was pretty unpredictable. Now, it pulls at 3lbs. 10 oz., has little or no creep left, and releases predictably each time.

I just wanted to tell anyone who is considering a tune, to get it done. Bob took real good care of me. He does what he says he will do, for what he says he will do it for. He runs a good honest service, with fast turn around time that is a great value for the money he charges.

The tune-up made it a lot more fun to shoot this entry level rifle. Even though Bob claims to specialize in tuning Chinese Springer’s, he did a great job with my Legacy. I would recommend his work to anyone.

GTX trigger mod.
August 10 2005 at 1:37 PM

I wanted the NRA Gamo 1000 rifle currently being offered in our "American Rifleman" magazine but had experienced the Gamo triggers and was hesitant. An inexpensive line like Gamo had to cut costs somewhere. It came with the territory. Then I saw Charlie Da Tuna's GTX trigger mod for the Gamo line and orderd the rifle and trigger mod. This makes the Gamo 1000 a match rifle in sporting guise. I have only had 2 match rifles and 2 match pistols with better trigger pulls. Light and crisp at just over 1 pound makes it my favorite springer. I have several HW's with their famous Rekord trigger and it can't compete with the GTX. Gary

And the e-mail Gary sent to me: 8/10/05

Boy, oh Boy! This GTX trigger mod for my NRA Gamo Shadow 1000 is amazing! Better, by far, than HW's rekord trigger. Such a simple fix and a perfect trigger pull. I wish all my guns, rifles and pistols, firearms and airguns, had this trigger. I'll be referring all of our membership with Gamo's to you. Springers are hard beasts to tame and this trigger makes mastery simple. The most surprising part is that this is in a sporting springer. Amazing!

I have posted my raves on reviewcentre in answer to a guy who liked his Gamo Shadow but hated the trigger. Several other posts had mentioned to him that you had a trigger mod for it, but no one had actually tried it. I told him it would be the best $37.50 he would ever spend.

I'll be back for more of your products and services. Every once in a long while I'm impressed with a product and I certainly am now. You're a good man, Bob, and thanks for the next best thing to sliced bread.

Air rifle tune-ups by Charlie

July 11 2005 at 5:05 PM Chris

I just received my Mendoza .177 the other day after having Charlie (CharliedaTuna.com) do one of his Turbo Tunes on my rifle. Prior to sending it in, the rifle had lost a lot of its power and accuracy, so i figured it needed some work. Charlie installed a new spring along with a new seal, and completed the rest of the tuning on the rifle. The results were as follows: Prior to the tune, it shot approx 450 fps with an 8.3 grain pellet. After tuning the gun, it now shoots 760 fps, shooting dime size groups at 25 yds. Aside for restoring the umpf in this old shooter, he also eliminated all spring twang. Furthermore, after deburring all of the parts and completing the tune, the gun is much smoother to operate, and is more solid now than when i first purchased it. I'm really glad i decided to tune my old rifle instead of buying a new one. The gun is primarily used for target shooting and pest control, and after having it tuned, the pigeons on my deck are in deep trouble.

To anyone out there who's thinking about sending your gun to Charlie, i can highly recommend that you do...It'll never be the same again...in a very very very good way.

Chris

Tuna'd Gamo 220
May 14 2005 at 2:27 Pm Rob

OK, so the Gamo isnt a Chinese gun, but the guts are similar to a B19 from what I've read. Also, I'm sure much has been said about Charlie www.charliedatuna.com on these forums, but I have to put in my two cents.
I got my Gamo 220 back today from Charlie...wait..no..I didnt get MY Gamo back...I dont know what I got back, because what I got back was NOT what I sent him. This thing is amazing. I called Charlie to let him know about the gun I was so excited. I could not imagine how much better the Gamo would have turned out. The guy does magic.
Before the tune up I was getting around 898 fps with Gamo hunter pellets and about 756 fps with CP Heavy pellets. ....after the tune.... 955 with the Gamo Hunters and 831 with CP Heavies. Thats amazing. The gun now far exceeds my RWS 34 in velocity and smoothness of operation. The 34 goes next. If I can get 1/4 the results with the 34 as I did with the Gamo, I'll be happy.
Again, hate to sound like a commercial here, but for anyone who hasnt had a tune, it will be the best money you can spend on your springer. I just cant say enough about what Charlie can do with these guns. Also, I also had the MK-1-GTX trigger installed. Man what a difference.

Of course, its raining now, so I cant test accuracy, but I've already shot about 50 pellets through it out the door smiling with each shot.

Thats sounds Great I got to get one of my B20s to him!!
May 14 2005 at 11:06 PM DAckerson

Was that a Turbo Tune or the basic tune. I can't imagine a Gamo needing a Super Tune. I think I may Turbo tune the B2022 and GTX trigger one of the Gamos maybe the S1k .177.

Tune
May 14 2005 at 11:25 PM Rob

I think it was the Super tune. Whatever he recommended, I had him do. Just email him and he'll treat you right. I hear the B20's turn out really nice. I was planning on getting one in .22 to send to him, but my Gamo is almost getting 17fpe now in .177 so I'll stick with it. Going to have him do my RWS 34 and 54 as I get the cash. Cant wait to see how they turn out after seeing what he could do with a beat up Gamo.

An e-mail from Mike Pace 4/23/05
Charlie,
Just wanted to thank you for what you did to my GAMO. I absolutely Could not believe it was the same gun. The gun was totally different, smoother, easier to cock, much quieter, more accurate and a complete pleasure to shoot. The new trigger was amazing, it made all the rest of the work you did even better. Since I've got it back I can't put it down, must have shot it around a 1000 times. And it just keeps getting better.

Your service was extremely professional and very personable. You made me fell like I was your biggest customer. Thank You again and I'm sure I'll be a repeat customer. Mike Pace

An e-mail from Mike in K.C.

Charlie,
I received my GAMO Hunter 440 back from you today and after the first shot I knew that you returned to me a quality shooter - much different than what I sent to you. The cocking is much smoother and even though the sping is more stout , it was fairly effortless because of its smooth operation. Next, when I pulled the trigger - gone was the annoying massive 1st stage creep and that made the trigger feel cheap - and in its place is a quality MkII wide aluminum trigger that pulls light and smooth - I'm not sure what I like the best, but this part is up there. Probably the best part of all is the sound that my gun makes now - hard to explain because I haven't ever heard anything like it come out of a pellet gun before. Its a sound that makes you know that there is some real quality behind it - not a rattle coming out of the spring like there was before - its almost completely silent in ! ;spring release, and is such a strong and powerfull pop that it shocked me the first time and then just made me grin. I was definitely surprised at the sound coming out of the barrel. I'm very impressed with your work and what you have made my gun into. I shot about 50 pellets tonight and I'm grouping them nicely in about a quarter sized circle at 10 yards - and its not even close to being broken in. Thanks again Charlie - and for the quick turn around time.

Sincerely,
Mike Stalling

An E-mail from G.H.
Bob,

Just wanted to say thanks again for the great job you did on my Gamo Shadow .22. The new trigger is totally different and absolutely great. At first I thought it might be a little light for a field gun, but after a brief re-adjustment period I love it. Cocking the gun is also noticeably smoother.

I've mounted a Leapers 4x32 mini AO Scope and have shot about 300 various pellets. I'm lucky that it seems to like whatever I feed it. I haven't had the time to get out the sandbag rest and find the one pellet that possibly may wring out the last fraction of accuracy, but for offhand field shooting I'm very pleased.

In the last week I've dispatched 2 Copperheads and a big Water Moccasin with head shots. It started when my wife had walked over to where some neighbor kids were shooting at one of the Copperheads with a BB gun (without success). She laughed at me when I went and brought out the Gamo saying there was no way I'd ever hit it. One shot later she exclaimed " wow, you blew it's head off, I'm actually impressed". The kids also seemed surprised that an airgun could be that accurate.

I'm sure this Gamo Shadow .22 will be around for a long time.

Best regards, G. H.

I recently had my Tech Force 99 magnum .22 caliber tuned. I originally purchased my rifle about 2 years ago from compasseco. I probally shot my rifle at least 12,000 times give or take a few thousand. I shot it every day, no exceptions. Anyway, the cheaply built rifle finally broke, and I was wondering if I should buy a new TF99 or have mine tuned. I decided to have it tuned and im glad I did. My rifle was in sad shape when i sent it to charlie, it was used and abused. Charlie really did some amazing work! (new spring, all new synthetic seals, spring guide, completely reworking the trigger and compression cylinder-and not to mention other tricks he has picked up over the years) My rifle was shooting around 499 fps with 15.4 grain gamo hunter pellets with a trigger pull of just over 6 lbs. before the turbo tune. After the turbo tune my rifle shot an average of 735 fps with a trigger pull of just over 1lb. Thats right one pound! My rifle is shooting better groups than it ever has. I love it, im much happier with a tuned rifle than a new one. For anyone who is considering a tune, it is well worth it.
Thanks again,

Trent Thompson

Post response:

Good for Charlie. All that and from a gun that's advertised at 900fps! D R

Post response:

It depends on the pellet and spring. chinese web site......of the company that builds them states 675fps for the .22 cal qb36-2. (Edit: same gun as the TF-99)
http://www.airrifle-china.com/Product/EN/product_detail.asp?productid=54
mine does 840 with cp with the Maccari spring setup. mr Werner shot it a while back and can tell you alot about the chinese powerhouses with Maccari springs and quality seals. These aren't little girly guns. my gf won't cock it more than 3 times before she says she wants to shoot the fwb300.
these are big stout guns for big stout shooters.

E-Mail from Mike N 4-5-2005
RE: RWS48

What I have to report is this...

Oh my. I'd forgotten how the rifle felt when new; tight but more precise (now). There must have been an ongoing deterioration in its performance that I had gotten used to. I can recall specific moments (in the field) when it got a little more rough (metal to metal), but always seemed strong till the end. I always felt like I was chasing the scope setting. Now I can see. The velocity (and accuracy) must have been steadily decreasing with each new symptom of the cycle and, after viewing the returned spring and guide, I can see why.

With limited time on workday nights, I lack concentrated shooting periods. This week end however, will be the real trial.

The rifle is "night and day". Feels like shutting the door on a new vehicle as opposed to the 1961 Mercury Comet. I thank you for your skill and effort on my behalf.

Once I get some time under my belt I will confirm what I already suspect. The gun is stronger, smoother and more consistent. When I report that confirmation I promise to be less verbose.

Kindest regards;

Mike

Now this is a B-22 March 27, 2005

Well. i,ve shot the hell out of the b22 broken peace of crap that i sent you. Found the sweet spot for the trigger. I'll now put the gun you sent me back against any rws or beeman 22 caliber, its that good. Expect more business in the future. I cant thank you enough, you have turned a broken rifle into a masterpiece.

Tuna-Shadow Supreme
March 12 2005 at 11:03 AM

One of those brown trucks that will never win a drag race brought me one of those long, thin packages yesterday. Of course, I was at work and couldn't open it. What followed was four hours of agony until I pulled into my garage and sliced the tape to reveal my finely-tuned black beauty. She'd just made the pilgrimage to the Da Tuna Finishing School where she received the works, including a Tarantula and that new trigger. I carefully stuck a few of the quarter- sized adhesive targets on a half-inch scrap alder plank which I put at the ten-meter mark on my range. I proceeded to cock and fire a few shots, and I was blown away: This couldn't be my poorly-behaved Shadow; she cocked effortlessly, the trigger pulled like a feather, and there was no vibration. I drilled the target each time and walked out to the plank. The shots were passing through the wood. I was using the RWS .177 Superpoints. This has to be one of the best tune jobs in modern history. The firing vibration before the tune left me feeling like I was going to lose some teeth. Now, it's probably the smoothest shooter in my closet, even with the synthetic stock. If you do what I did, you'll be happy with this Wal-Mart orphan. You may even fall in love. Mike

El Gamo Shadow 1000 meets CDT Farrell Bramlett 2-18-05

I purchased my first air rifle at Wal-Mart, El Gamo Shadow 1000, and it shot great. The spring lasted for about 10,000 shots or so, and as it reached the end of its life I learned about having factory air guns tuned.

While reading air rifle reviews I learned about Robert Werner, who may be better known as Charliedatuna, air gun tuner that is. I sent my Gamo gun to him and when I received it back I was more than pleased. The cocking action of the gun was much smoother than from the factory. The velocity I now receive from my gun is better than before as I used to watch my pellets approach the target. He even reworked the trigger free of charge. I highly recommend having your air rifle tuned as you will see a noticeable difference in its performance. The turn around time on my tune was good as he received it early one day and mailed it back late the next. Robert kept me posted as to what problems he found by way of e-mail. When I received my gun all I had to do was mount my scope and I was ready to go. He does good work and is honest with you about what your gun needs. I am still in random contact with Robert asking him questions as he is much more experienced about air guns than I; and he doesn't mind answering my questions. You can reach Robert by e-mail and he can help you.

I have now put about two-hundred-fifty shots through my gun since tuned and it is doing great, and I can't wait until the break in time has passed as it will only perform better. Having my gun tuned was a good idea for me and it has made my days in the field a little more enjoyable. And all avid air gunners know a day out shooting should be a pleasant relaxing experience.

The Beast has been tamed! (B-21)
February 10 2005 at 3:30 PM

Purchased a B-21 from FunSupply and sent it off to CharlieDaTuna. Turn around time was exactly 1 week from the time is was sent. Bob called me at home the night he received the B-21 to talk about my expectation. It now shoots smoother than my old HW55T. There is little to no vibration and is only expected to get better. I had told Bob my interest was not in velocity, but accuracy. I got both. Bob is a miracle worker.

TF99 and Tuna
January 19 2005 at 12:49 PM Trevor

Charlie has made a believer of another Chinese airgun shooter! I had sent him my TF99 just after Christmas for a Turbo Tune. What a difference in the shooting quality of my gun. Before I sent it to him, I put a few shots through it to have something to compare. The gun had a rough trigger and an awful twang when shot. I trusted all you Tuna lovers out there and sent it off for the tune. Twenty four hours later the gun was on it's way back as were e-mails letting me know how my baby was doing. Excellent service to say the least. When the gun got back to me, it was out to the range. What I found was a completely different gun. Smooth cocking, smooth predictable trigger (factory trigger, GTX trigger mod does not work for TF99's) and no spring twang! It was a investment to do the work to an ok gun, but now I have a great gun for hunting and FT. Oh sure you think with his help, and directions on his web site, you can tune these guns up yourself, but, this was no B-3 or fastdeer. It was money well spent. He is a master and knows what has to be done. If your thinking of doing a tune with Charlie, go ahead you won't be disappointed!

Trevor
